Newport Beach's Balboa Peninsula is the beach of Newport Beach. Consisting of 5 continuous miles of flat sandy beautiful beach, the Balboa Peninsula juts out southwest into the Pacific Ocean and shelters one of the largest private yacht harbors in the world, Newport Harbor. Enjoy sunbathing, playing beach vollyball, going for a bike ride or surfing at the beach - all within walking distance! Bike down to the end of Balboa Peninsula and check out famous surf spot, "The Wedge", home to the most daring and skilled professional surfers.The Peninsula has a fantastic list of shops, restaurants and the fun casual bar scene makes for great day and nightlife.

The most convenient airport will be John Wayne, Orange County.  Los Angeles International is about a 1 hour drive to Newport Beach. Long Beach Airport is about 30 min.

Currently Alaska Airlines has the best airfare out of Newark or Philadelphia direct to LAX.

Fly N Fish Oyster Bar and Grill

$$$ - Great for lunch or dinner, they offer a variety of appetizers, seafood dishes and amazing drinks. If you stop by the bar tell Ernesto that Melissa and Chris sent you! This is our favorite restaurant :) 

Royal Hen

$$$-Located on Balboa Island. You can take the ferry across the harbor for a dollar.  You can enjoy Marine Ave with all of the local shops. Royal Hen is the top restaurant pick on Balboa Island. Highly recommended for dinner.

Balboa Lilly's

$$ - Great for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Melissa's favorite is the pulled pork tacos and Chris loves Nick's House Sandwhich. 

Sancho's Tacos

$-Best breakfast burrito in Newport Beach!!

Free Range Cafe

$$- This is a unique spot.  It started as a food truck in LA but now has a permanent home on Balboa Island.  It can be breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Absolutely amazing chicken and waffles. Definitely worth a try.

Lido Marina Village

Lido Marina Village offers a number of waterside dining options and has a mix of charming boutiques and stylish shops.  

Things to Do

If you choose to travel for an extended vacation there is plenty to do for the week. Some really awesome places to visit include Catalina Island and the Temecula Wineries.
