Thank you to Javier's parents for hosting this event!

Location & Transportation

We will kick off the weekend with a welcome gathering at a venue on top of the colonial wall that wraps around the old city! There are many different "baluartes" (translation: "bastions"), which are the wider portions of the wall that historically were used to protect the city. The Baluarte San Francisco Javier is one of the more famous baluarte venues because it has a permanent bar and restaurant.

The Baluarte San Francisco Javier is directly across from the Hotel Charleston Santa Teresa. It will be a short walk for anyone staying within the walls of the old city.

Dress Code

Cocktail attire!  Gentlemen - no need for a tie or a jacket.

Updated Timing!

We have updated the timing of this event to accommodate the exact schedule for the boat! Please arrive to the harbor at 8:30am for a 9:00am departure. We expect to be back at the harbor around 5:30pm.

Location & Transportation

On Friday we will spend the day at a beach club on a large island just off the coast of Cartagena called Tierra Bomba!

Transportation will be provided by boat from Cartagena's main harbor just outside of the main clock tower entrance to the walled city.

Where to meet the boat: Main Harbor - The main harbor is right outside of the clocktower entrance. This google maps location linked is a rough location, the boat will dock somewhere between "Muelle de la Bodeguita" and "Muelle de los Pegasos". If you have trouble finding the boat, please contact this number via whatsapp: +57 318-240-5424

Dress Code

This event is casual, wear whatever beachwear you will be comfortable in!  The bride and groom will be be in the water... their parents might stick to the sand :)

Location & Transportation

Our ceremony will take place at the historic cathedral in the center of the walled city. This will be a short walk for anyone staying within the walls of the old town.

Dress Code

For the day of our wedding we will embrace the traditional wedding dress code of the Colombian coast!  We want our guests to be comfortable in Cartagena's tropical climate, so no need to pack a suit, tie, or jacket!

Gentlemen: "Guayabera manga larga" - Translation: white linen shirt (long sleeved) and linen pants or slacks (khaki or light colored pants are traditional, but any color is welcome!). Pro tip - a guayabera shirt is worn untucked!

Feel free to wear any long-sleeved white linen shirt (it does not have to be the traditional style). If you would like to buy the traditional "guayabera" shirt, see below for more details!

Ladies: Cocktail and evening dresses - long and short are both great! We recommend wearing comfortable shoes because we will be walking for the procession between venues.

Wait, what is a "guayabera"?!

The "guayabera" is a traditional linen shirt. Many countries from Cuba to Mexico and even Spain have their version of this traditional coastal garment. If you would like more context, click here!

➤ If you want to embrace this local tradition without straying from your comfortable consumer habits, here are two examples of Guayabera shirts available on Amazon (linked here, and here).

➤ If you're interested in wearing an authentic and truly local version, there are multiple stores in Cartagena's old city that will sell guayaberas so you could get one once you arrive!

➤ If you prefer to stick to your existing wardrobe, feel free to wear any long-sleeved, white linen shirt!

Location & Transportation

After the ceremony, following Cartagena wedding tradition, we will have a celebratory procession leaving the cathedral! We will process together from the cathedral to the Santuario San Pedro Claver for a cocktail hour. This procession will only be for a couple of blocks!

The "santuario" (St. Peter's Sanctuary) is an internal courtyard connected to a historic church where St. Peter is buried.

Location & Transportation

From the cocktail hour we will have a guided procession again to our venue for the reception!  This is about a 5min walk, or likely 8-10min as a big group. This venue is the "Explanada" (translation: esplanade or promenade) in front of Cartagena's Convention Center.  This large plaza lined with palm trees looks over the main harbor and the clock tower entrance to the walled city.

It is easiest to walk back into the old city at the end of the night. We will have one shuttle available for anyone who needs or would prefer a ride back to the old city when leaving.
