Travel
The most seamless travel route is flying into Naples Airport (NAP). From Naples airport to Capri: 90 minutes
From Rome airport to Capri: minimum 3 hours
The only way to get to Capri is by boat or ferry. Ferries depart from Naples, Sorrento, Amalfi, Positano, Procida, and Ischia.
Once you arrive in the port, there are several options to reach the Piazzetta (center of town - as far as you can get in a cab or on the funicular).
Porter service *HIGHLY RECOMMENDED*
Most hotels offer a porter service to transport your bags directly to your hotel room. You need to organize this service in advance, and can pay for this service upon check-out from the hotel. A hotel porter will meet you at the port, transfer your luggage, and you take the funicular or a taxi to the Piazzetta and proceed to the hotel on foot.
Funicular
The funicular runs between the port and the Piazzetta in Capri town. The ride takes about 3 minutes and costs €3 per person. The funicular runs every 15 minutes, except during peak times when it runs non-stop. To transport large suitcases, you must purchase a supplement ticket (we do not recommend this for luggage!). The funicular can only take you as far as the stand in the vicinity of the Piazzetta, from where you will need to proceed to the hotel on foot with your luggage.
Taxi
Taxis are available at the port, including the island's famous cabriolet cabs. The ride takes about 10 minutes to the Piazzetta and costs about €20. Taxis will charge a supplement for luggage (we do not recommend this for luggage!). Taxis can only take you as far as the stand in the vicinity of the Piazzetta, from where you will need to proceed to the hotel on foot with your luggage.
Hotel shuttle
Some hotels offer a shuttle service to and from the port. Please check with and coordinate with your hotel to see if this is an option.
