OUR STORY
Matt and I met six years ago. To this day, he laughs when recalling the first time we met. He remembers walking into work and noticing a beaming, bright-eyed PA student with enough words and enthusiasm to overwhelm the charting room. My job in the ER was challenging and I found Matt’s calm demeanor and patience admirable. He helped me boost my confidence and encouraged me to grow professionally. Over the years, our work acquaintance grew into friendship, and eventually our friendship developed into a beautiful relationship. It began with a simple medical question here and there that led to spending hours having deep conversations; we started relying on each other through the best and toughest of times. Feelings for one another became impossible to ignore. A quick bite at a pizza place became an evening of endless conversation. From that moment on I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him.

They say opposites attract, and you could say we’re living proof. Our cultures are vastly different but Matt always made an effort to learn about my customs, language, and of course the food. He quickly learned food is our love language and despite not being a vegetarian or a chef, Matt learned to make several spicy vegetarian dishes. While Matt got to learn about me, I also learned much about him and what’s important to him, especially his three wonderful children: Lucy, Jack and Jane. They are amazing children and I'm fortunate they accepted me into their lives. I, myself, cannot imagine my life without them.

Meeting each other’s family was special. My parents came to visit us in Las Vegas. Matt came to my house, gifts were exchanged and my mother was overjoyed to make him her favorite meals. Matt wasted no time eating and getting spoiled with love. It was endearing watching Matt and my parents interact and accept each other. My parents told me how sweet and genuine Matt is. Then it was my turn to meet Matt’s family. Matt took me to his hometown where he grew up. I met his amazing family and they welcomed me with open arms and made me feel at home instantly. At the end of the trip, his grandfather said with a smile, “this girl has a lot to say!”

When Matt planned a trip to Maui for us, I had a feeling he had something special planned but I played along and didn’t ask questions. For weeks, Matt carefully planned a surprise proposal with the help of my best friend and Maid of Honor, Dia. He even booked a secret photographer to capture the beautiful moment. One evening, he demanded to have a picnic on the beach and watch the sunset.  As we went for a walk to watch the sunset and the waves brushed against our feet, I turned around and Matt was on one knee, hands trembling.  Without any hesitation...I said “YES!”.

Please join us this September for the wedding festivities. We can’t wait to share this special moment with each of you and thank you all for the well wishes!
