Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) is the primary airport in the capital of Costa Rica, San José. This is the best place to fly into.
Currency:
It is best to bring cash to avoid any international card fees. In Costa Rica they use the Costa Rican Colon but also accept US Dollars. Best to have a little bit of both. (You can get Colon at the airport next to baggage claim when you arrive). Right now the exchange is 1 USD equals 610.28 Colon.
Hotel Transportation (Pricier Option):
The hotel does provide transportation both to the airport and hotel. Please contact: concierge@villacaletas.com to arrange cost will be determined by the amount of people being picked up.
Uber:
Uber is also an option when traveling around in Costa Rica. They are not allowed to come into the airport so when you exit the airport take a left and walk to the corner or bus stop where they can easily pick you up.
Rental Car:
There is an Enterprise, Alamo, National, rental cars located at the airpot. If you wish to use a rent a car contact Raul first to see if he can get you a friends discount. Also be sure to contact concierge@villacaletas.com and let them know you will be parking at the hotel during your stay.
*Driving on Costa Rica’s roadways is restricted between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. Additionally, driving is restricted some days based on lisence plate number. Certain types of transport (tourism vehicles, delivery trucks, etc.) are exempt.
We are so excited for you guys to share this beautiful place with us. Hotel Villa Caletas (where we will be staying) is a luxury boutique hotel tucked away in the rain forest/country side of Costa Rica, 1150 feet over the vibrant Central Pacific coast.

Things To Note:
-This is an eco country/hotel they take pride in protecting the environment anyway they can! Ex: Limiting single use plastic, excessive waste etc.
-Best time to watch the sunset is around 5-6pm.
-Dinner reservations at the restaurant on site are required.
-There is a nature walk down to the beach. Transportation is provided and schedule is given at check in.
-The rooms are spread out all around the property as you are in the rain forest. We recommend upgrading your room if you are able the views are worth it.
-Be on the lookout if you are lucky you might see monkeys, parrots, armadillo, sloth, coati, toucans, sea turtles, whales and so much more.

STANDARD DELUXE (6): Rooms equipped with a queen bed or two single beds. It has a partial view of the sea. They are found in the main buildings. They have easy access to public areas. VILLAS (10) (Recommended): Rooms slightly larger than our Standard rooms, equipped with a Queen bed and in some cases space to place one or two additional beds. They have a terrace, have different views such as beautiful gardens, mountains or in some cases even the ocean. No specific type of view or room can be guaranteed. JUNIOR SUITE (8): They provide spaciousness and luxury. Equipped with a King bed and a small living room. They have a panoramic view of the sea from the terrace, independent jacuzzi or tub-jacuzzi for two people. They are scattered around the property and there may be several steps to reach them. SUPERIOR JUNIOR SUITE (9): New version of our Junior Suites, which have a King size bed, spacious wardrobe, sofa bed and Jacuzzi tub. Each room has a terrace equipped with a separate Jacuzzi as well as a panoramic view of the Gulf of Nicoya, which together with the exuberant beauty of the surrounding forest create an unforgettable atmosphere. The Superior Junior Suites are located in a building with 8 rooms and 4 floors; For the greater comfort of our guests, the building has its own pool on the first floor, the rooms on the first floor have their privacy from the room, however, from the terrace you can see the pool area. REGULAR SUITE (2): The concept of this Suite is not so much a question of size as it is because of its style and its luxurious private pool framed by tropical vegetation. Equipped with a double bed and space to place an additional bed. They have easy access to public areas, you do not have to go down and up steps to get to them. They do not have an ocean view. El Barco
This is the perfect place for Families of four and up to six, or two couples traveling together. The “Barco” has its own parking lot and a service of golf cart to go back and forth from the main building. These “two rooms in one” were designed to provide more space, luxury and amazing views.Each room counts with a king bed and its own bathroom. A lounge area can accommodate two extra beds.A very large terrace from which you will be able to enjoyed wide views from the surrounding rain forest, the Pacific Ocean and the Herradura bay. MASTER SUITE (2): One of the best categories of Villa Caletas for its elegance and comfort. They are equipped with a king bed and a sofa bed. They have a large terrace tub-jacuzzi, hammock and a private luxury pool with spectacular ocean views and surrounded by lush tropical vegetation. They are scattered around the property and there are steps to reach them. Special rate: $ 611.00 taxes & breakfasts included / double occupancy. HONEYMOON (2): two “Honeymoon” suites are synonymous with romance and style. These suites made especially for honeymooners and couples; They have a luxurious private pool with a wonderful view of the rainforest and the ocean. Both have a Jacuzzi on the outdoor terrace where you can relax while listening to nature. They have a king-size bed, bathroom with tub and separate shower. There are several steps to reach them. Enjoy breakfast on the main terrace while watching the toucans and scarlet macaws fly close by next to your private pool while you enjoy a glass of Champagne. Welcome to Paradise! We will be getting married at Zephyr Palace which is located on site of the hotel (transportation provided as it is a little bit of a walk).
Traveling To Costa Rica As Of Now:
You do not need to get a Covid19 Test in order to travel to Costa Rica however you must do the following:
Purchasing Travel Insurance
You must purchase travel insurance to enter Costa Rica which will cover you incase you get sick. They require this instead of getting tested to go there. This is the company we used:

Every passenger must fill out the Health Pass every time they travel to Costa Rica. After completion of the form, you will receive a QR code that must be carried on your mobile phone or printed out on paper to be allowed to pass through airport authority posts.
Returning To The United States Testing:
On January 12, 2021, CDC announced an order requiring all air passengers arriving to the US from a foreign country to get tested no more than 3 days before their flight departs and to present the negative result or documentation of having recovered from COVID-19 to the airline before boarding the flight. This Order applies to all air passengers, 2 years of age or older, traveling into the US, including US citizens and legal permanent residents.
**You still need to get tested even if you are vaccinated this is a CDC/United States Rule!
Covid 19 Testing
We will be having a lab come to the hotel at 9am on the morning the day of the wedding (July 10th) to do covid tests. The test given will be a rapid test and results will be ready the same day. (please remember covid tests are only valid within 3 days of travel) Cost is $85 per person. Please schedule your appointment in advance if you are not choosing to get tested Saturday the day we have the lab staff coming to the hotel. You can call or text them on whatsapp. Cost is $130 per person. Located about 15 min from the hotel we took an uber.

Proof Of Recovery:
A letter from your healthcare provider or a public health official that clears you to end isolation, e.g., to return to work or school, can be used to show you are cleared to travel, even if travel isn’t specifically mentioned in the letter. CDC does not recommend getting tested again in the three months after a positive viral test, as long as you do not have symptoms of COVID-19. If you have had a positive viral test in the past 3 months, and you have met the criteria to end isolation, you may travel instead with documentation of your positive viral test results and a letter from your healthcare provider or a public health official that states you have been cleared for travel. The first positive test result within 90 days and letter together are referred to as “documentation of recovery.”
