The aisle.  When We Met: December 2013 How We Met: University Catholic, at the St. Nicholas Party freshman year Bride's Favorite Memory: Cruising to Alaska together after we graduated from college - and seeing her expression when we made it to Canada!   Bridal Party Superlative: "Most Likely to Have an Extremely Southern Accent by the End of the Night"

Bride's Favorite Memory: Getting to be there for her engagement at Disney World! And buying her bridal Mickey ears for the occasion, of course.
Bridal Party Superlative: "Most Likely to Find a Way to Network at the Wedding"

Groomsmen
Matt Record
Matt Record
Best Man

Matt invited me out to trivia during the dark ages aka my life in Wisconsin. Matt is the best thing about Madison, Wisconsin - right above beer (for Patrick) and cheese (for Sarah).  He may or may not ask you to sing a tag with him.

When We Met: September 2016
How We Met: At my first barbershop chorus rehearsal in Madison, WI; after which Matt invited me to come play trivia the next day
Groom's Favorite Memory: All of the Sundays I walked to Matt's apartment to watch football
Bridal Party Superlative: "Most Likely to Get into a Fight with the Groom about the Patriots and Colts"

Kevin Mendez

When We Met: July 2012
How We Met: Singing tags, as per usual
Groom's Favorite Memory: Earning a silver medal singing in Ohana Means Family in Las Vegas... shortly after Kevin found someone to loan him a pair of dress pants

James Pennington
James Pennington
Groomsman
James is actually the dad of the bridal party, as he is the dad of all things. Ben Raja
Ben Raja
Groomsman
Ben hates most people and never want to admit to friendshisp. But he's here so he's probably at least sort of friends with us? James Decker
James Decker

James aka "Decker" is the most likely to be late to the wedding because he got in the shower 5 minutes before the ceremony started. He's also the most likely to be supportive of Sarah owning a dog, so she'll forgive him if he is late.

Groom's Favorite Memory: Making up a loud soung about flag poles when we lived together my senior year.
Bridal Party Superlative: "Most Likely to Request Down Under 5 Times in a Row"

Saxon Lea
Saxon Lea

Saxon and I roomed together for three years in college, which is longer that Sarah and I have lived together, thus proving that cohabitation does not necessarily lead to a successful marriage.

When We Met: September 2012
How We Met: During our first choir party for the Vanderbilt University Concert Choir.
Groom's Favorite Memory: Going to the Vanderbilt football stadium together at 1 in the morning.
Bridal Party Superlative: "Most Likely to Sneak into the Catering Kitchen to Cook Himself Kale"

Dan Alfieri
Dan Alfieri
Groomsman

Danny is the bride's younger brother. He's got the best jokes, can play pretty much any instrument by ear, and is always the most likely to get on Sarah's nerves. He also has the tendency to disappear at gatherings so... have you seen Danny? If so, please return to the bridal party ASAP.

When We Met: June 2016 (but he met Sarah in September 1996)

FAQs

What can I expect from a Catholic wedding?

Patrick and I will be getting married in a traditional Catholic ceremony in the context of the Mass. We believe that Catholic wedding ceremonies are beautiful and we cannot wait to share this piece of our religious culture with our friends and family! We will have programs with more information on what to do at certain parts of the Mass, and our priest will provide additional instructions as we go. For more information on what to expect at a Catholic wedding Mass, check out this website: https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-ideas/catholic-wedding-ceremony

Am I able to attend a Catholic ceremony if I am not Catholic?

Absolutely! We invite all our our guests to attend the ceremony, regardless of their religious affiliation. We truly hope you will all be there to celebrate with us.

In light of recent CDC guidelines, will masks be required during the wedding ceremony?

The health and safety of our friends and family is important to us and we continue to look to science and the CDC for guidance. After speaking with our venues and looking at the latest CDC guidelines and Nashville mandates, we will follow their recommendations for the ceremony and reception. Fully vaccinated guests will not be required to wear masks. At this time, we are excited to say that at least 90% of our guests are fully vaccinated. We caution our unvaccinated and high-risk guests that, despite encouraging signs, they need to continue to take precautions to keep themselves and others healthy. We will have masks available.

What precautions is the Church taking against the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic?

Christ the King is limiting capacity to ensure social distancing.

Should we head to the reception venue immediately following the ceremony?

No. We expect that our ceremony will end between 2 and 2:30; however, our reception does not begin until 5:00. The bride and groom will be taking pictures with the bridal party during this time. Our reception venue is located in downtown Nashville, walking distance from Broadway, so you are welcome to head that way early and find a bar to grab a drink and listen to music in between.

Please note that the ceremony will be taking place in a Catholic Church. You are welcome to change between the ceremony and reception if you would like.

Parking Info

There is ample street parking on Belmont Blvd., as well as parking available in the lot behind the Church.

Hotel shuttles may be able to provide transportation to and from the ceremony - please check with the front desk. We also recommend using ride sharing apps, such as Lyft and Uber.

In light of recent CDC guidelines, will masks be required during the wedding reception?

What's on the menu?

We will be having a plated dinner with open bar. Dinner will include various hors d'oeuvres, salad, entree, and (of course!) wedding cake. Entree options will include bourbon glazed salmon with asparagus and peppercorn melange risotto, pear and rosemary chicken with rosemary fingerling potatoes and roasted red pepper goat cheese brussels, and blackberry pork loin with sweet potato mash and broccoli. Please indicate with your RSVP which entree you would like.

Will you be able to accomodate dietary restrictions?

Yes! If you have any dietary accomodations, please indicate on your RSVP. Our caterer can accomodate several dietary restrictions, including (but not limited to) allergen free meals, gluten free meals, and vegetarian meals. If you have any additional questions related to dietary restrictions, please contact the bride.

Can I bring a guest to the wedding?

We are currently only able to accomodate guests indicated on your invitation. If you have additional questions, please contact the bride.

Can I bring my child to the wedding?

Similar to dates, we are only able to accomodate children if indicated on the invitation. We are definitely planning to party and hope you will use this occasion as a night out! If you are in need of childcare in the Nashville, please contact the bride. She has been a babysitter in the Nashville area for several years and has contacts with several other excellent Nashville sitters. She would be happy to help arrange childcare for you if needed. If you have any additional questions regarding children, please contact the bride.

Travel Notes

Please note that we will be getting married over Memorial Day Weekend. We hope you will use the holiday weekend as a way to take a vacation and really experience all that Nashville has to offer! We encourage you to look into travel and hotel options early due to the holiday.

Nashville is a vibrant, exciting place to visit, full of wonderful attractions and fantastic dining. We can't wait for you to experience the city we have come to know and love!

Dining

Monell's

Looking for old fashioned Southern cooking? Look no further than Monell's! Located in historic Germantown, one of the trendiest Nashville neighborhoods, Monell's serves all-you-can-eat family style food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Our favorite meal at Monell's is their country breakfast - you cannot beat their biscuits and grits. Plus, their famous fried chicken is served at every meal (yes, even breakfast). This is a must-do in Nashville.

Martin's BBQ

Another Nashville favorite for barbeque, one of Martin's locations is located directly across from our ceremony venue, and another is located next to our reception venue (so you might have to go after you realize how good it smells). We recommend the brisket and pulled pork - plus coconut cake for dessert (only available on Sundays).

Peg Leg Porker

You can't go to Nashville without getting good barbeque. This barbeque place is Sarah's parents favorite. Located in the Gulch, another of our favorite Nashville neighborhoods, this is definitely a place to try. We recommend the mac and cheese and ribs.

Hattie B's Hot Chicken

You can't come to Nashville without trying our famous Nashville Hot Chicken! Hattie B's is a Nashville favorite for hot chicken - and a staple in Patrick's diet. They have several locations across Nashville - and we promise the line is worth it.

Loveless Cafe

Loveless is located a bit further from the center of Nashville, but is a great option for Southern food, including the traditional Meat and Three. They are famous for their biscuits and homemade preserves - which are just about the best you can find. Plus, you can play a round of cornhole while you wait for your table.

Puckett's

Puckett's is located in downtown Nashville, and is a great option for your traditional Southern Meat and Three. They often have live music playing, so it is the true Nashville experience.

Moto

If your looking for a higher-end option, Moto is our favorite Italian place in Nashville. Every pasta is incredible, although the Cacio e Pepe is Sarah's personal favorite.

Pancake Pantry

Some say it's overrated, but it's one of Sarah's favorite, so it makes the list anyway. Pancake Pantry is located in Hillsboro Village, just a few blocks from Vanderbilt University. You might have to wait in line, but if you love pancakes as much as we do, it's worth the trip.

Trattoria Il Mulino

One of our favorite restaurants in downtown Nashville - and where we celebrated our engagement with excellent pasta and champagne. This is a fantastic Italian restaurant just a few few minutes from the Bell Tower!

Things to Do

Downtown Nashville Honky Tonks

No trip to Nashville is complete without checking out the bars on Broadway. Grab a drink and listen to some of Nashville's next big stars sing - you never know who you might see! Check out Acme Feed and Seed for the best view in town, Downtown Sporting Club for axe throwing, and The Stage for some good old country music.

Cumberland Kayak

Take a kayak down the Cumberland River for some of the best views of Nashville - and a bit of an arm workout.

Country Music Hall of Fame

The Country Music Hall of Fame is a must for any country music fans. Tour exhibits on various artists throughout country music history, from the very beginnings up to modern day. If you love country music, we also recommend checking out the Johnny Cash Museum and Ryman Auditorium.

The Listening Room Cafe

Located a few blocks from downtown Nashville, The Listening Room Cafe is one of the best places to check out up and coming songwriters in Nashville. Reserve your tickets in advance for one of their evening shows. This is one of our favorite places to take visitors.

Bluebird Cafe

Another place to discover some of Nashville's best songwriters, the Bluebird Cafe was made famous through the show Nashville, and of course, through discovering the one and only Taylor Swift. Tickets go fast, so be sure to reserve them when they go on sale (more information available on their website).

Hiking

There are many beautiful hiking spots both within Nashville and nearby, incluidng those at Rador Lake, Percy Priest, and Percy Warner. This website recommends just a few of the incredible hikes middle Tennessee has to offer!

Transportation

Getting Around Nashville

Our reception venues and hotel blocks are located walking distance from the center of downtown Nashville, so many activities will be easily accessible by foot. If you do not have access to a car, we recommend using Lyft and Uber to get around the city. For more information on transportation and parking to and from the ceremony and reception, please see the Events page. We've linked a wesbite below with more information on getting around Nashville without a car.

Parking in Nashville

If you are driving to Nashville, many of the activities we recommend are easily accessible by car. In addition, all of our hotel blocks will have options for parking on premises (see Accommodations for more information). However, if you are intending to go Downtown or to other areas with bars (i.e. Midtown), parking can be expensive or difficult to find. For more information on parking in Nashville, please check out the website below.

Flying to Nashville

If you are flying to Nashville, we recommend flying into Nashville International Airport (BNA) as it is the closest airport to our wedding venues. BNA is about 15-20 minutes from both Christ the King and the Bell Tower.

Hotels
Hotels
Hotel Note

We have currently reserved blocks at several different hotels downtown, all within a block of our reception venue. There are several other hotels close to our reception venue (The Bell Tower), so we encourage you to check those out if you prefer. In addition, there are many AirBNBs and VRBOs throughout Nashville that you are welcome to look into as well. Please let us know if you have any questions about accommodations.
