Amalfi is the largest town on the coast and it has some of the best beaches as well as cultural and architectural sights. It is about a 10 minute car-ride from Ravello or 20-30 minute hike.
Naples will give you a true taste of Italy — thanks to its winding cobblestone streets, authentic pizza and real Italian flavor.
Download “The Sooper” app - it has recommendations for restaurants, activities & things to see. Below are some of our favorites!
· Pizza @ Sorbillo in the historic centre. There's always a looong queue, but it's quicker than you would expect and it's definitely worth it! There are a couple of easy bars where you can grab a beer while you wait, just remember to give your name at the door as soon as you get there www.sorbillo.it/en. In the area there are a lot of hidden treasures, including Santa Chiara Monastery, Museo Cappella San Severo (with Cristo velato sculpture), San Lorenzo Maggiore Church, San Gregorio Armeno (famous for nativity scenes and characters).
· Breakfast/Ice cream/dessert @ Chalet Ciro on Via Caracciolo (www.chaletciro.it/en/)
· Coffee/breakfast @ Bar Gambrinus in Piazza Trieste e Trento – artists café from the XVII century. Walk around that area – Piazza Plebiscito, Royal Palace, San Carlo Theatre (oldest continuously active venue for public opera in the world), Galleria Umberto.
· Drinks in the “baretti” area - Via Cavallerizza & Vicoletto Belledonne. Ebbrezza di Noe is a wine shop by day, wine bar by night (www.lebbrezzadinoe.com/)
· Walk around: Historic center (see above), Piazza Trieste e Trento/Piazza Plebiscito (see above), Via Caracciolo/Via Partenope (sea side), Parco Virgiliano (nice park on top of Posillipo Hill – nice views)
· Shopping: Via Dei Mille, Piazza dei Martiri, Via Chiaia
· Getting around: Taxis are a cheap/effective way of going around (Uber is not available)
Pompeii is one of the most-visited archaeological sites in the world and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Pompeii was an ancient Roman city that was covered after a volcano eruption and today it is known for its well-preserved ancient ruins.
There are also a number of quieter ways to enjoy the dramatic coastline.
There are many hiking trails carved into the cliffs. The most famous of all is the “Sentiero degli Dei” or “Path of the Gods”, along a mountain ridge high above the sea.
The main section of the hike is between the small villages of Nocelle and Bomerano but they can be connected by steep staircases to the coastal towns of Praiano and Positano.
If you need help planning a trip in the area, we would definitely recommend contacting our event coordinators Rosaria and Angela at Ravello Events.
