In 2020, while Henry was starting his first job after graduating college, he didn’t know a routine coffee shop visit was going to change his life. February 13th, 2020 Henry met Madeline in a Starbucks in Radnor, PA. After asking her about her “Ocean City, NJ” sweatshirt, they found out how much in common they ultimately had. Both parents grew up spending summers on the island, houses blocks apart, and even down to Henry’s grandmother going to the same high school as Madeline.
Henry had known he found the one after their first date, but after 4 years of dating, he decided to take the relationship to the next level and propose to Madeline.
In a city that they share so many commonalities, it was only right to do so there on a beautiful July day. On Friday July 5, 2024, Henry coordinated family, friends, and a unique spread of flowers and champagne on the beach of Ocean City, NJ. A walk that they have made hundreds of times was to turn into a forever special one. Henry was able to take Madeline away from family and friends for a “quick” walk with their dog, Bosun, before the big “4th of July party.”As Henry and Madeline approached the beach proposal, Madeline thought they were about to crash someone’s engagement, but quickly realized it was her own engagement when she saw Henry get down on one knee, popping the question. Madeline was left fooled and in the dark about the wave of family and friends that were awaiting her to celebrate their engagement for the “Red, White, and I do,” 4th of July party. Sparking an unforgettable start to the beginning of their engagement.
