How we met - unbiased

Mac and Maddie met on a little dating app called The League. If you haven't heard of it, it is a dating app that is linked to your Linkedin profile and allows you to swipe left or right on 3 individuals at 5pm every day (after the work day). Maddie had never been on a date on a dating app before and Mac had been a power user of the app. One day, they both swiped right. Mac reached out to Maddie and had an interesting pickup line but it seemed to work. He asked what her favorite yoga pose was, because at the time she was working for Beyond Yoga. They chatted for about a week on the app and Maddie decided to press forward and told Mac she wasn't the type of girl to give her number out to a guy but she felt like they were making a connection. Mac thought to himself, "oh ya right" but later learned she wasn't lying. Mac was respectful and gave Maddie 2 nice options for dinner and Maddie chose Tar + Roses in Santa Monica. Maddie sent her mom a picture of Mac before she went on the date and asked if she should go on a date with him and Maddie's mom, Jami, told her to "go for it". Maddie was very tense before the date and shared her location with her roommate and mom afraid she might be kidnapped. Mac was as cool as cucumber as this was just another night out....read on for first impressions.

Maddie's first impression of Mac

When Maddie first saw Mac's profile, she noted how many pictures Mac had with his shirt off. But the one picture that caught Maddie off guard, was the picture of Mac in Dubai with a scarf around his head and his brilliant blue eyes. He had already put her in a trance the moment she saw this picture. Then she saw he was a chemical engineer, and she was sold! Their connection while messaging via the app was undeniable so Maddie was ready to be forward and share her number with him because gosh dang it, was Mac taking forever to ask her. They finally went on their first date during a weekday and Maddie saw Mac from afar once she parked. She realized he was real and she wasn't being catfished. She couldn't contain her cool or excitement and immediately gave Mac a hug and said "I am so excited to meet you!!" During dinner, Mac's nostril kept flaring and Maddie could tell he was nervous but the conversation flowed and they kept laughing and smiling at each other. While eating dinner, Maddie asked Mac why he was on the dating app and Mac told her he wanted to meet new people because he was new to area. Mac asked Maddie and she said she wasn't wanting to date just to date, she wanted to be in relationship with a person she saw a future with. After Mac's comment, Maddie wasn't sure this would be a fruitful relationship. After dinner, they walked to the water while Mac gently placed his hand on Mac's low back. When they were looking out the water, Maddie could tell Mac really wanted to kiss her because the staring at her lips was so obvious. But she never kisses on the first date. While on first date, Mac asked Maddie on a second date and she couldn't have been more stoked.

How it ended

After 5 long years together with a dog named Rvca (named after the surf brand, go figure!) and a whole lot of growing and partaking in adventures, Mac and Maddie decided to make it official. Mac asked Maddie to marry him on 5/21/2022. He planned an incredible day - a scavenger hunt with the family, a sunset convertible ride, and an engagement party. It is a memory they will cherish forever and they plan to make more memories together rooted on happiness, love, laughter, and hand holding.

Mad's favorite thing about Mac

"Mac is a lover. He is a hopeless romantic who is deeply passionate about those in his life. He never forgets to kiss me goodnight, tell me he loves me, or make me laugh until my cheeks hurt. We have a fun, playful relationship with endless banter, but we can also be serious people driven by our own endeavors. We don't need each other to complete ourselves, but we inspire each other to be the best versions of ourselves."
