My sophomore year of college in 2012, a couple of friends and I dropped a parody video called Android Babes on YouTube. We shared the link on Twitter, a lot of people retweeted the video and that’s where new followers started pouring in. Maxy was one of them. I couldn’t help but notice Maxy’s profile picture...he was tall, dark, and handsome. He would randomly tweet and I would find myself on his Twitter page just scrolling down and stalking all his tweets.
One evening I tweeted, “One of my followers is kinda cute *waves shyly*” and literally no more than 5 minutes later, Maxy replied and said “Hey”. I wanted to crawl out of my skin! He was THE follower I was talking about! I had to literally reread my tweet just to make sure I didn’t accidentally mention him. I calmly replied back hey and after small talk Maxy said, “Just wishful thinking...I wanted to believe that tweet was for me”. YALL!!!! I played it off and basically told him that it wasn’t but messaged him 5 minutes later and confessed. We eventually exchanged numbers and start texting, come to find out, he only lived 6 minutes away from me!
The first night we met was after GZ Music Can Help Concert. We sat in his car and talked from literally 11pm-5am. That night officially started the beginning of our lives together! We have been stuck together like glue since then and here we are almost 7 years later getting married.

It all started on Twitter, back in September 2012. I remember seeing a video surface on my timeline of a group of girls that attended UTSA making a parody of a Nollywood movie, calling it “Android Babes”. One of the girls caught my eye, and I remember paying close attention to the end credits so I could find out her name and twitter handle. “Ifunanya”, I thought to myself so I didn’t forget the name.
We followed each other on Twitter, and soon after, I caught her subtweeting, saying that she thought one of her followers were cute. There was no indication that the tweet was about me, but I decided to take the BOLD leap that it was. I don’t know what told me to do that but we thank God it worked — she WAS talking about me! The connection between us sparked instantly afterwards.
We met in person the evening after GZ’s Music Can Help Concert, January 2013. We spent the entire night and early morning talking and getting to know each other. I felt like I had known her my whole life after that conversation. Since then, she’s been the only woman I have ever wanted.
Moral: You can find love anywhere — even on Twitter!
