Explore Mykonos
The Royal Myconian sits above the action of Elia, the island’s longest fine sand beach, situated on the south coastline a mere 12 km from Mykonos town.
If you opt to stay at one of the Myconian Collection Hotels, which we hope you will, transport service will be provided from the airport to the hotel. Please confirm with the hotel when booking your flight details to arrange this events1@myconiancollection.gr
You can also hire a car or quad bike to get around the island.
Please note: Taxi's can be very unreliable in Mykonos, so we would recommend organising transport with your hotel or hiring a car to get around.
AROUND ELIA
Firsty, we just wanted to highlight after visiting the Myconian Collection in Septmeber this year, you can 1000% stay within the resort and not have to leave at all. The options available at the different hotels and the level of service & food is some of the best we have ever had! Obviously we HAD to try them all, here are our favourites:
Imperial:
Sushi
Celebrity
Royal Bar
Avaton
Uptopia
Elia Beach:
Tikis
Mykonos has it all, whether you want to party, wine and dine or just relax on a deserted beach. Here are a few of Josh & I's favourite places to go and things to do when we visit Mykonos! *We would definitely recommend to book all of the below in advance!*
BEACH CLUBS/DAY TIME: If you want a beach club/party or a long lunch these are our favorite places to go, however, there are plenty of places that we still haven't discovered!
SCORPIOS: If you go to mykonos and want to party, you NEED to go to Scorpios. We have been every time and you can't top it. Scorpios is great for both day time chilling/lunch and also evening party. Our favourite way to do it is to go and watch the sunset with plenty of rose flowing and get lots of sharing bits to eat for dinner.
KALUA BEACH: This is a proper beach club vibe, go for the day and get some sunbeds and then have a late lunch and get ready to dance!
PRINCEPOTE: We spent the day on the sun beds and again had another boozy lunch, it is on a beautiful beach and it gets pretty wild!
NAMMOS: Quite a different vibe to Mykonos but still really fun for a day of sunbathing and a late lunch.
ALEMAGOU: a really cool mykonos vibe, similar to Scorpios but a little bit off the beaten track. This side of the island tends to be a little more windy, but you could easily spend the day on the beds and have a long lunch here.
SPILIA: My (Lizzie's) favourite place in the whole entire world! The first time we found this place we stumbled across it, so joshua could get to a rock jump. When we walked through the restaurant (over this cool little bridge thing), I knew we were going to love it! Great for a late lunch or even dinner time - just dont get the fish of the day $$$!!
KIKI'S: Maybe Joshuas favourite restaurant in Mykonos, it is super different to anywhere else. It’s like a beach shack with no electricity, and people queue for ages to get in – you need to get there at like 1130am/12pm to get into the first sitting otherwise you’ll be there hours. One person has to stay in the queue but while you wait they serve wine and there’s this cute little private beach so you can swim while you wait etc. Great BBQ food and just a totally different vibe to anywhere else.
FOKOS TAVERNA: Another one of Joshua's favourites, this is off the beaten track on a lovely (but can be windy) beach. This beach has no sunbeds and it is a very chilled vibe.
EAT/EVENING:
*note there are so many beautiful traditional travernas across the whole of mykonos and in mykonos town, the below is a round up of some restaurants that we have been to and loved over the years*
AVRA: In Mykonos town, really gorgeous romantic restaurant in a cute courtyard and traditional food
INTERNI: One of my favourite dinner places when you want to party, sparklers and dancing involved!
KASTRO'S/ KALITA/ KATRIN: These 3 restaurants are all in mykonos town with beautiful settings with the white wash streets and beautiful traditional food.
REMEZZO: Fine dining and then music at the tables till 03.00am!
Other places that have been highly recommened but we have yet been too: Pasaji, Kuzina, SantAnna & SeaSatin.
SUNSET DRINKS:
SUNSET 180: It does what it says on the tin really, it is a beautiful sunset bar that overlooks the whole of mykonos town. We have been pretty much every time we have been to Mykonos and the sunset never gets old.
LITTLE VENICE: In little venice in Mykonos Town there are lots of beautiful sunset bars and restaurants that you can relax in, one that we go back to time and time again is CAPRICE BAR which is pretty much the first one as you enter the town. There are plenty along the front, make sure you get there early to ensure you get a good spot.
ELIA: renowned for the longest strip of fine sand and its crystal waters, the serene Elia has comfortable sunbeds, a variety of superb restaurants with Mediterranean dishes and cocktails, as well as an aqua-sports school that offers water-skiing, parasailing and windsurfing.
AGIOS SOSTIS: unspoiled, without any tourist amenities, this beach encapsulates the bohemian soul of Mykonos. You will find one of our favourite beach Taverns, KiKi's at the top of this beach.
FOKOS: isolated and remote, with arguably the island’s coldest waters, this beach is off the beaten track in the north of the island remains a pristine site of natural beauty. Lacking umbrellas, sunbeds or any kind of shelter in general, the beach is at its best only on calm summer days. Joshua's favourite tavern is on this beach called "Fokos Tavern", he recommends the salad's and hummus.
PLATIS GIALOS: a popular beach, one of the longest on Mykonos, famous for its crystal-clear water and fine sand. Its idyllic calm belies its proximity to Chora, and Platis Gialos has become both a family favourite and a cosmopolitan beach. It is fully organised, offering sunbeds, umbrellas, water sports facilities and many restaurants and bars.
ORNOS: boasting fine sand, sunbeds, umbrellas and sea sports, this is an ideal family beach fronting a small fishing village, with amenities and a good anchorage for yachts.
KALO LIVADI: a popular long beach known for its facilities and parties. With safe, shallow waters and idyllic surrounds, it is well-organised with many umbrellas and sundecks.
AGHIA ANNA: calm, authentic and small, with few umbrellas and our favorite beach restaurant Spillia!
