Huka Falls

At Huka Falls you can witness the phenomenon of natural hydro power with more than 220,000 litres of water per sec barreling over 11meter high waterfall.

Caters of the Moon

Craters of the Moon is a geothermal walkway with Lunar Landscapes - Hence its name. Craters of the Moon showcase the natural thermal activity of Taupo including bubbling craters, steam vents and colourful soils.

Mine Bay Maori Rock Cravings

The giant Mine Bay Maori rock carving of Ngatoroirangi on Lake Taupo has been hailed as one of New Zealand’s most extraordinary contemporary Maori artworks. Towering 14-metres above the deep water of Lake Taupo, the carving has become one of the North Island’s biggest tourist attractions.

Spa park

Spa Thermal Park is home of the famous Otumuheke Stream hot pools. From here, you can also explore the Huka scenic walking trails and the Rotary Ride mountain bike trail.

Aratiatia Rapids

Aratiatia Rapids is one of the most popular natural attractions in the North Island.  Thousands of litres of rushing water creating a spectacle popular with visitors to Taupo. A unique display of man vs nature.

Aratiatia Dam opens every day for around 15 minutes. The water is released from the Aratiatia Dam down through the Aratiatia Rapids. The Rapids is believed to have been created from a volcano. The name “Aratiatia” means “stairway of Tia”.

Taupo Cycling

Taupo is home to excellent bike routes. Hire a bike at many of the locations round Taupo and explore the lake front or hit the of mountain bike trails.
