FAQs

Why is this called “Admiral Information"?

James answer: It’s the more nautical version of General Information.

Lexi answer: No comment.

What should I know ahead of time?

Definitely read all of the FAQs but an important piece of information is that our wedding weekend is the same weekend as Greek Easter. This will give a ton of local events for you to enjoy and truly experience the Greek culture leading up to the wedding. From what we have been told by our planners, there may be some unexpected closures of places due to the holiday and the Greek's trend to not work a second longer than required. I would suggest calling restaurants to ensure they are open and not trusting Google before venturing out. Other than that, after the wedding, the country will return to normal and you can experience it normally.

Can I bring my mini-me?

James answer: Absolutely not.

Lexi answer: Due to venue capacity, we would like to share this with our closest friends. While we enjoy children, this is an adult only wedding.

Am I staying in the villa?

James answer: Probably not. The villas is limited to the wedding party and immediate family. There are a ton of amazing places within 10 minutes of the Villa. That being said, the villa is intended as the hangout place in the days leading up to the wedding. It is open for everyone to come play, mingle and relax Wednesday and Thursday prior to the wedding.

Lexi answer: While we would love to have everyone under one roof, it isn’t feasible with how many we want to share our wedding with.

Will there be a seated meal?

James answer: No. Eat dinner before, get drunk, eat all the awesome snacks then eat your gyro and go home.

Lexi answer: There will be wonderful heavy hors d’oeuvres and a Mediterranean smorgasbord after the ceremony and during the reception. There will also be gyros served at the end of the night to help everyone get home safe. No one will go hungry, trust us.

What should I wear?

James answer: Clothes preferably.

Lexi answer: Still clothes but make them nice. (Cocktail attire is the goal. Please don’t wear a tux or a crazy gown. Linen suits and cocktail dresses are perfect.)

Do I wear white?

James answer: No.

Lexi answer: Please don't, as we have enough white with the background and my dress that some diversity in color would be great!

What shoes do I wear/bring and how long am I standing?

James answer: 7 minute ceremony, 5 minutes entry and exit, add 2-3 for slack. Wear your nice stuff for at the ceremony and then change shoes. We are standing most of the night most likely. We will have a place for your shoes, if you leave them, that’s your monkey so remember your stuff.

Lexi answer: Our ceremony will be prompt, short and beautiful and we hope your footwear will be beautiful as well. After the ceremony, we will be snacking, drinking, dancing and drinking so you can swap shoes at that point if you’d like. A space in the villa will be provided as a “shoe drop”. Please remember to get your shoes from the shoe drop before leaving as we are promptly leaving the premises the next morning.

Will there be vegetarian options?

James answer: There are plants around the house you can munch on.

Lexi answer: Mediterranean cuisine is traditionally very veggie heavy so there will be many options for all diets.

Can I bring a plus one?

James answer: If your invite didn’t say you had one, probably not. Email or text us and we can check it out.

Lexi answer: We want everyone to be able to celebrate with their special person but might not be able to accommodate all requests. If you need a plus one and were not allocated one on your invite, please reach out.

How do I get around town?

James answer: If you’ve ever seen the 1964 hit animated movie Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, you would know that it is typically achieved by putting one foot in front of the other and soon you’ll be walking across the floor or out the door. They both rhyme and I don’t remember the line.

Lexi answer: Taxis are available in and around town but can be expensive. The town is made for walking. Rental cars are available from the airport. You may be able to carpool with other guests depending on your destination.

Will there be an open bar?

James answer: The first thing I planned after we booked the villa was where we could stock enough alcohol for you fiends.

Lexi answer: Absolutely! There will also be non-alcoholic options available.

Can I request a song?

James answer: Only if it’s already in the playlist.

Lexi answer: Given how stressful wedding planning can be, we ask that all song requests be given in a more casual setting ahead of the special day.

Will there be a morning after brunch?

James answer: I anticipate we will be occupied but y’all can do whatever you want.

Lexi answer: We hope that you choose to visit some of the wonderful food surrounding the villa with some of the other guests but we don’t have anything planned as we will be jetting/sailing off for our honeymoon after the wedding.

Will the ceremony and/or reception be indoors or outdoors?

James answer: Outside. It’s Greece. Reception is a flex space so you can be inside or outside.

Lexi answer: The ceremony will be outside with the ocean as a backdrop and the reception will follow in a flexible layout using the patio and first floor of the villa. There is ample seating indoors or outdoors and we anticipate people to be in both spaces.

Can I bring you a keepsake at the wedding?

James answer: Please don’t, it will be the first thing left behind if the luggage is full. Ship it to us if you want.

Lexi answer: Due to our honeymoon itinerary and my fabulous attire, suitcase space is limited and we would appreciate any trinkets be mailed to us within the US.

What is the weather in May in Elounda?

James answer: 80s. Your phone can also give you more updated information.

Lexi answer: The weather is typically sunny with highs in the upper 80s and nights in the upper 60s.

What can I do in Greece?

James answer: Same thing as any other coastal country. Water, eat, drink, walk around, and shop.

Lexi answer: Crete has different vibes on the East and West side of the island that are both worth exploring.  There is also the world's oldest Olive tree in Crete, as well as many hikes and picturesque activities. There are also many short haul flights or jet boat options to island hop and see all the country has available. Crete is known for wonderful food. Athens/Santorini/Paros is wonderful for sightseeing and the vistas. You can also take advantage of already being in Europe and hop to another European country for a low cost.

Will there be live streaming options if we can’t make it?

James answer: Maybe - depends on how easy it is for me to do. International streaming can lead to some issues so this is most likely a no.

Lexi answer: We want to be authentic and in the moment so it is not a priority to make this happen.

Should I bring a swimsuit for the reception?

James answer: Not unless you want to be holding it or have it awkwardly stuffed in your pocket. It’s a wedding, not a pool party.

Lexi answer: The expected attire does not include swimwear. We have multiple events leading up to the wedding that you may wear your swimwear to.
