Airlines & Flight Schedules by City
To attend all three events we have prepared for the wedding weekend, we recommend arriving to Rome on Thursday morning (Oct. 20th.) If you are unable to take Thursday/Friday off work, we completely understand and appreciate any amount of commitment to being in Rome with us! We also advise to book flights ASAP as they will most likely continue to go up closer to the date. And lastly, we hope this inspires some of you to travel around before or after the wedding to explore more of Italy/Europe.
In regards to airports, both FCO and CIA are about 30 minutes from the center of Rome.
Peru- Unfortunately, there are no direct flights from Lima to Rome but there are good options with a layover, with Iberia, KLM, LATAM and AirEuropa American Airlines and Airfrance.
Israel- ITA Airways and WIZZ have very reasonable flights to Rome.
London- There are many options to fly from London to Rome from most of the main airports. British Airways and ITA airlines are a great option and there are also many budget airlines selling tickets for very good prices.
United States- There are non- stop flights from most of the US cities to Rome. This includes Miami, NYC and Los Angeles. Booking in advance will definitely help save money later on.
Getting Around Rome
By Foot - On our first trip to Rome together, we barely took taxis or Ubers. Instead we walked nearly a half marathon a day. This is the very best way to see the city, save money, and get some exercise!
Taxi- There are taxi stations all over the center but we also think you might find it helpful to download one of these apps to order taxis during your trip: Wetaxi, itTaxi, appTaxi. You can also ask your hotel to book you a cab.
Uber- Uber only offers Uber Black or Uber Lux services in Rome (not UberX) but it is a great way to get around.
Electric Scooter - This transportation trend is all the rage. Bird is the top choice among locals but there are many options around.
Bike - JUMP is the Roman version of citibike.
Metro - Once in the city, the Roman metro system will almost get you anywhere you'd like to go. It's amazingly well connected and relatively easy to use. Buy tickets inside the metro stations (single journey or a little booklet of tickets) which can be used both for the bus as well for the metro. Please keep an eye on your belongings to not have anything snatched from you or stolen. This is unfortunately a reality in almost any big city you'll visit.
We strongly recommend staying in the city center or the Jewish ghetto area. Most things will be walking distance and all the suggested hotels are within walking distance from each other. At this point, we have secured a few discounted rates in the following hotels.
We have a 23% discount in the below hotels and B&B around the Spanish Steps and the Pantheon. This is very central and also a 20 minute walk from the ghetto.

If any of the above are of interest to you, simply enter “leejanwedding” as the promo code, and the discounted rate will automatically populate.
The shabbat dinner will be taking place at the jewish ghetto. There is also a synagogue in this area for those interested in attending shabbat services, and these are close to the venue of the shabbat dinner for those who will be walking. The below are also next to the Jewish area and have the best access to kosher food.

To provide some guidance for those new-to-Rome, below are our top recommendations broken out by budget range if you choose to stay at a different hotel!
Splurge (€800+) - The St Regis Rome, Hotel de Russie, Hotel de la Ville, Hotel Eden, J.K Rome and the Hassler hotel
Midrange (€300-500) - Marriott Flora, The Anantara, Hotel Bernini Bistro, Sofitel
Affordable Luxury (€150-300) - NH Hotels, Le Meridien (a little further out), Hotel Indigo, Hotel Ponte Sisto
Airbnb - There are fantastic airbnb options if you are interested in booking a true Roman experience and living like a local for a few days!
