Fremont

Spencer and Laure met in Fremont in 2016, when Laure was studying her Doctorate at UW and Spencer was working at a downtown law firm. They would frequently visit their favorite restaurant, Roux, where Spencer mispronounced the French names of most dishes. They also enjoyed many runs around Green Lake together, which is how Spencer learned all the French curse words.

Travels

Spencer and Laure's travel adventures started with a surprise trip to Tokyo in the sweltering hot summer of 2017. Since then, Spencer and Laure have been on many amazing trips to France, saw Arsenal games in London, got lost in the snow in Calgary, ran marathons in San Francisco, and visited friends and family across the Midwest. Once they can travel again, they look forward to seeing more of Europe, Asia, and New Zealand.

Mountlake Terrace

In late 2017, Spencer and Laure moved in together in a house in Mountlake Terrace, a small neighborhood north of Seattle. The house had a beautiful and sprawling garden that was many times bigger than the house, and became a home to Laure's lilacs and many birds. It was here that Spencer and Laure passed many milestones; Laure got her Doctorate and received her Extraordinary Ability Visa, and Spencer made the move from law firm to government work, clerking for Judge Jones and joining the Washington Attorney General's Office.

Engagement

On Valentine's Day, 2020, Spencer put into play his carefully-laid plan of proposing. First, he met Laure at Brouwers, the Fremont restaurant where they had their first date. Next, he brought her to Rock Creek, the Fremont restaurant that serves their favorite oysters in the world. Finally, Spencer proposed to Laure overlooking the city lights of Seattle at Ella Bailey park.

2020 and Beyond

After getting engaged, Spencer and Laure started their long hunt to find a new home together. They eventually found their way to West Seattle to a home they called “The Ranch.” It was a house of many first: Laure got her first piano, and Spencer his first set of plumbing tools. They look forward to many more firsts at the Spencer and Laure Ranch.
