We recommend that our guests stay at Jewel Paradise Cove Beach Resort & Spa (ensure that you book the correct Jewel resort as there are multiple)  All of our wedding events will be held at this resort. You can book directly on the resort website or through Expedia. Expedia may have better packages that include flights and the hotel.

The room rate can be adjusted for one or two people and it includes resort amenities and unlimited food and alcoholic drinks.

We recommend arriving between April 12 - 14th and departing April 16 or 17th.

There is no room block.

A 3 night minimum stay is required.

Our suggestion would be a premier or oceanfront guest room.

Flights

Airports:
We recommend that all guests fly in to Sangster Airport, Montego Bay which is the primary airport in Jamaica for tourists.

You could also look at flights in to Kingston, however, this is a very local and small airport and you would need to get a taxi for approx. $110 - $140 each way to the resort (90 min drive).

Florida guests:
Your best option is to fly nonstop from Fort Lauderdale to Montego Bay with JetBlue or Southwest Airlines.  Flights are typically between $400 - $550 roundtrip (ex. luggage & seat selections).

UK guests:

Virgin offers direct inbound/outbound flights on Sundays and Wednesdays from Heathrow to Montego Bay airport.

Transportation

Montego Bay Airport
When you book your resort reservation online, please add the round trip transfer shuttle add-on option on the resort's checkout page.

The cost of the roundtrip shuttle between the resort & Montego Bay Airport is $30 total per person and the cost will be added to your resort stay.

The resort shuttle caters to all of the resorts in the Ocho Rios area and the drive will be 60- 90 minutes with stops at each resort (expect 2 - 5 stops).

During your Stay
You will not need to rent a car or use a taxi service during your stay . Transportation will be included if you choose to do an excursion from the resort. There are no rideshare services (Uber) in Jamaica.

Travel Notes

Currency:
Jamaica accepts US Dollars or Pounds and you will not need to exchange currency. The resort does have an ATM on property, but I would plan to bring small bills for tipping. Visa and Mastercard cards are widely accepted.

Weather:
Daily high temperatures in April are around 83 - 88°F. Daily low temperatures are around 73 - 78°F. The average temperature is around 82 °F (28 C), paired with a low chance of rain. The ocean temperature is around 81°F (27 C) and the wind is calm.

Cell phone service/WiFi
Plan to add daily international calling to your cell phone plan through your current service provider. You could also use iMessage, Facetime, or WhatsApp with the resort's free WiFi, but the reception is fairly spotty unless you are in the main lobby area.

Electricity:
The electrical supply in Jamaica is 110 volts and electrical appliances use plugs that are two-pronged and flat (such as those used in the United States and Canada). Bring along any adaptors of convertors you might need if this doesn’t suit some of your appliances and chargers. The hotel will provide a hair dryers, alarm clock, and a clothes iron.

Language:
Officially, Jamaicans speak English, but they like to mix it up with their own island version of Patois.

Water:
All drinking water in Jamaica is purified and filtered by modern methods. Their water is safe for you to drink, clean your teeth, and bathe.

Random note:
Jamaica is well known for their amazing coffee. Should you purchase coffee at the gift shop or off-site, please be aware that is needs to be packed in your checked luggage on your return as it will be confiscated in your carry on luggage in your home country.

General Recommendations:
• Make sure you travel with a valid passport (cannot be expired or close to expiry). Also, bring another valid form of photo I.D., and photocopies of both I.D.s. in case of loss or theft.
• Avoid wearing expensive jewelry or handbags on excursions.

Returning to the U.S/UK

Please allow 90 min. travel time in addition to the time needed at the airport prior to your return flight.

You will need approximately 2 hours at the airport.

For Florida guests (Montego Bay)
For JetBlue - you will check in at Counter 72. There is a separate line for bag drop and the regular counter service.

As a reminder, do not pack Jamaican ground coffee in your carry on prior to going through security.
