Wedding
Cocktail attire requested. Please note the wedding ceremony will be outside, please be prepared if the forecast that day is for colder temperatures. Our wedding planner has advised us that in New Orleans weddings start promptly at the set time (5pm). So please allow plenty of time for traffic, parades, construction, random drunk people, parking, etc.
Marching shoes
Wear shoes that are comfortable to walk in, because you’re going to be part of our parade!
What is a Second Line?
One of the most popular traditions during New Orleans weddings is the famous second line parade. At a wedding it signifies the start of a new beginning of life for the bride and groom. A Brass band leads the bridal party and the guests from the ceremony to the reception venue. A second line parade has two parts. The first line is usually a brass band and the ones being honored, the newlyweds. All of the guests who want to join in the celebration make up the second line. The guests form a line behind the band and the newly married couple and dance through the streets to lively music with handkerchiefs or cocktail napkins in hand.
