October | 2002 | When we first met
Our love story began in college, on the dance floor [so cliche]. Steve decided he had built up enough courage to show me his dance moves. Although that night ultimately lead to our friendship, our group of friends has dubbed him “The Backup” [this was way before the movie; we should be collecting royalties].
January | 2007 | When we reconnected
Sometimes...it's not just lunch. Steve called out of the blue to say he'll be in Downtown Seattle for a conference; if I'd be interested in grabbing lunch and catching up. Since then, we started hanging out; then hanging more often; then doing almost everything together. And somewhere in-between we became more than just friends. We love spending time together. Who better to fall in love with than your best friend.
July | 2019 | When he proposed
Apparently I clicked on the link and fell for the bait. I was sold on an amazing 5-day backpacking expedition to Machu Picchu. Little did I know, Steve had other plans. The first class tickets to Peru should have been a clue. On the 5th day of hiking up the Salkantay Trail, I had doubts to continue on to the top, to the highest point of Machu Picchu Mountain. The freezing temperatures and my cold fingers gave me the drive to push through. At the top, the air must have been so thin, it happened so fast. Steve got on one knee and popped the question. It was so worth the climb. I couldn't believe it; we're engaged!
14 years worth of memories later, we’ve traveled the world, we've raised 5 furry pups, built a home and shared a life TOGETHER...
...even survived 18 months of quarantine...TOGETHER
But there's still always more.... we are excited to add another chapter to our story.
