Lahaina Hotels
We have discounted rates at three hotels, which are all next door to one another in Lahaina. The shuttles to our ceremony and reception venue will leave from these hotels. We hope you can stay at one of them (we will be, too!). Alternatively, Airbnb / VRBO have plenty of great options in Maui - we recommend staying in Lahaina to make catching shuttles to the venue easier!

Best Snorkeling:
Near Ka'anapali: Black Rock and Kahekili. Both very close to the hotels and easy beach entries with great beaches for lounging.
North of Lahaina: Honolua Bay. One of the top spots in all of Hawaii. Go EARLY (8am or before), as parking is very limited. Snorkeling is best early anyway. Very scenic forest entry, but all rocky at the bay; no beach.
South Side: Ahihi Kinau nature preserve is the other top spot. A long drive from Ka'anapali, but fantastic snorkeling; again, no beach. Ulua Beach, Maluaka Beach, Makena Landing are also great on the south side; lots of options.
Best Beaches:
West side: Ka'anapali (aka Black Rock), Kahekili (aka Airport beach) are great and close to hotels. Kapalua and Napili Bay are beautiful, but can be crowded and have limited parking.
Northwest: DT Fleming is big and has great views, with a bit more parking.
South side: Ulua Beach, Maluaka Beach, Keawakapu Beach all beautiful when it's not too windy
Far south: Big Beach (aka Makena) is amazing, a local favorite for tons of great sand and waves, but caution: the surf here can be huge and extremely dangerous. Best for lounging unless you are a very strong swimmer.
Best Hikes/Views:
Haleakala Summit: After a long drive to the 10,000ft peak, there are incredible views and some short/medium length walks you can take. This is a National Park, so entry is $30 per car. You also need advance reservations for sunrise (3-7am), which are often sold out months in advance. No reservation required for sunset, which is equally beautiful. Note: the altitude means that the air is thin and even light walking can be tiring. Also, it is VERY COLD, often below 40 degrees around sunset. Long sleeves and layers are a must; bring towels as blankets in a pinch.
Waihe'e Ridge Trail: 2 miles each way, fairly steep uphill, with great views of the northern part of the island.
Turtle Watching:
Ho'okipa Beach: Located on the north shore past the town of Paia. A very popular surf spot, and a sleeping spot for dozens of Hawaiian green sea turtles (aka Honu). Note: always try to stay 15 feet or more away from turtles when you see them on the beach or in the water.
