-Museo Municipal de Vigo. 10am-8pm (with siesta break), Sundays 10am-1.30pm. Vigo's local museum has got more than 1500 works of art, including paintings, sculptures, drawings and applied arts, from which just a small part is exhibited. The best known artists of the collection are Carracci, Pourbus, Goya, Teniers, Fragonard and Prud'hon. There is archeological hall and the least developed museum department - history of the city. Free entry.

Porta do Sol. Vigo's kilometre zero, from where all distances are traditionally measured. It is very popular meeting point. Sculpture is made by Francisco Leiro, El Sireno (The Merman). El Sireno looks to the north, to the sea.

-A Guía. A hill known as A Guía is the most important landmark. It has served sailors for centuries as a point of reference when entering port, has become one of Vigo's most popular parks, thanks to the fine views it affords over the city.
-Islas Cíes ( Cies Islands National Park) Ferries to Cíes islands (30-45 mins) run several times a day during the summer: June-September. There are two companies (Nabia Naviera and Mar de Ons) that take you there for the same price (just different timetable). Round trip costs 16 €/adults (2018). Both companies have offices just behind the tourist information point near the boat terminal. Cíes Islands are famous because of its nice beaches, nature, bird watching and diving/snorkeling. There is a camp (8 € adult/5 € child per night).
Vigo and Pontevedra city have plenty of options when it comes to eating. Because of the top quality of its ingredients and the relative simplicity of their recipes the region is home to most of the Michelin star restaurants allover northern Spain. Don't leave without trying their famed seafood, after all Galicia is well known worldwide by the sheer generosity of its coastal waters. Whether you get an ostentatious 3 star Chef menu or snatch a seat at a humble market stall, you will not be disappointed by the excellent Galician cuisine.

Boat
Ferries to the Illas Cíes and Cangas leave from the Estación Marítima de Ría. (Vigo)
Bus
The bus station is 2km southeast of the Old Town. MONBUS makes several trips daily to all main Galician cities, including Pontevedra (€2.50, 30 minutes to one hour), Santiago de Compostela (€8, 1½ hours) and Ourense (€6.55, 1½ hours). ATSA (www.automovilesdetuy.es) serves Baiona, A Guarda and Tui. Avanza (www.avanzabus.com) runs to/from Madrid (€41 to €44, 7¼ to nine hours) at least four times daily. Autna (www.autna.com) runs at least twice daily to/from Porto (Portugal; €12, 2½ hours), with connections there for Lisbon.
Train
Vigo has two stations. High-speed trains (10 or more daily) to/from Pontevedra (€3.65, 15 minutes), Santiago de Compostela (€11, 50 minutes to one hour) and A Coruña (€18, 1½ hours) use Vigo-Urzáiz station, 1km southeast of the Old Town. Vigo-Guixar station, 1km east of the Old Town, has five or more slower, slightly cheaper trains to the same cities, plus trains to Ourense (€12 to €23, 1½ to two hours, eight or more daily), Porto (Portugal, €15, 2½ hours, two daily) and other destinations including Ribadavia, Tui, Valença (Portugal), A Coruña, León and Madrid.
