OUR STORY
Our love story began at Highland Hills Golf Course in Greeley, Colorado. Kimberly was passionate about golfing and always strived to be a better golfer. One day after work at Aims Community College, she decided to enroll in a golf class to improve her golf skills! The first day of class, Kimberly noticed the handsome instructor as he approached the students. He walked towards her and she somehow unexpectedly began to smile. Kimberly couldn’t help but wonder how someone could make her smile over and over again, so effortlessly.
The handsome instructor was AJ, who had started a new job as a golf instructor at Aims Community College. He was nervous to be teaching his first course as a college instructor, but when he showed up to his class, he couldn’t help but notice one student in particular who was SUPER smiley…
After class was over, AJ left class and immediately drove out to Pelican Lakes Golf Course to tell everyone in the proshop about the most beautiful girl in his golf class, and even went as far as saying “the future Mrs. Johnson”! At the same time, Kimberly went back to work and told all of her co-workers about the new golf instructor and how she thought she was really going to enjoy the class.
Weeks went by and were filled with laughs and smiles. The two hit it off and began spending time together outside of class going on hikes, golfing, and going to baseball games.
Six months later, on a beautiful Colorado December day, AJ and Kimberly went to hit golf balls at the local golf course where they first met. For Kimberly this was a normal fun filled afternoon, but little did she know that AJ had a grand surprise for the day. AJ was going to ask Kimberly to be his wife!
He had set out a bucket of golf balls for Kimberly to practice. As she was hitting golf ball after golf ball, she picked up one AJ had snuck into the bucket. As Kimberly bent down to pick up the ball, AJ spoke up and said, “Wait! There is something written in that one. What does it say?!” She grabbed the ball and on it read, “Kimberly Marie, will you marry me?” Kimberly turned around to face AJ and there he was, down on one knee, with a smile on his face, and a ring in his hand. Choking back tears and laughter Kimberly said, “Yes!”
