Tinderella

I wish I was sitting here writing a cheesy story about boy meets girl, at a market or a cute bakery. However, it is the 20th century and our story starts with a downloaded dating app called “Tinder”. Boredom and loneliness lead to endless hours and countless swipes, but boy FINALLY meets girl. It started as a simple attraction, small talk and your typical flirty emojis thrown in here and there but what neither boy nor girl knew was it would end in forever. We know the saying goes “it was love at first sight.” But in our case it really was love at first swipe!

The Proposal

Disclaimer - this is not a cute hallmark proposal- sorry mom!

05.21.2021 - the date that marks the beginning of our forever together. ❤️ it was a long weekend and Daniel had been on all week about how the weekend would be special. So naturally, I bragged to all of my friends about my proposal to come. I was on my best behaviour all week long, made sure I was the BEST girlfriend in the world. Let him play his video games for hours on end with no complaints, didn’t make any comments when he ordered his nasty weekly McDonald’s Big Mac and even let him handle the TV remote! So you can only imagine the thoughts that went through my mind when he picked me up and I asked him what was so special about our weekend and the response I got was “nothing.. it’s just a long one.” Let’s just say the conversation that followed that response may have actually been the thing that scared him into going ahead with the proposal! We made our way back to Caledon to have a cute date night outside at the bonfire and watch a movie on the projector. I should mention- I was definitely not over it. Daniel asked if I would help him feed the fire with wood to which I answered with a snarky “that sounds like a wife request, you have two hands- feed the fire yourself.” Yes I know what you’re thinking… and yes I was definitely being one. He asked me a second time, and I stomped over like a 12 year old child that didn’t get what they wanted for Christmas and THREW a block of wood onto the fire- when I turned around, there he was- down on one knee with a beautiful ring asking me the question I’d been waiting to hear for the last 2 years. “Will you marry me?” Tears flooded my eyes, and I had a quick attitude change! My answer I’m sure you can guess was a huge YES, YES, YESSSSSSS. I am forever grateful to have such a patient, sweet, and caring man in my life because let’s face it … I’m not sure anyone else could handle my .. moments…
