Memorial Union Terrace
One of our favorite spots in Madison and definitely a must see if you have the time. The terrace is an excellent way to spend a few hours on a nice day or night
Arboretum
For the more nature inclined - the UW Arboretum has many hiking and walking trails in addition to being a great place for a bike ride
Dane County Farmers Market
We have spent many Saturday mornings browsing the largest producer only farmers market in the country. Look for lots of produce, cheese, and baked goods, with the beautiful capitol (which can also be visited by the public) as a constant back drop. Some of our favorites are Brunkow Cheese (have a huge variety of delicious cheeses), Chris and Lori’s Bakehouse (we really like their scones), and Tietz Family farms (we are a huge fan of their popcorn).
The market starts early morning on the capitol square every Saturday except during the winter.
Vintage
Probably our favorite spot for drinks downtown. The Vintage has a pretty casual atmosphere and large outdoor dining area.
The Old Fashioned
Probably the restaurant downtown with the most quintessential “Wisconsin” experience. They have lots of beer, very good cheese curds, and many great food options
