Flight Tip

The cost of flights to Puerto Vallarta has greatly fluctuated throughout the year (between $450-$1500).  The flights have again dropped in price, even during prime holiday travel dates.  If you booked your flights on the higher price range, we recommended revisiting your options.  Many guests have been able to rebook and save $$.  Others received a travel credit.

Transportation

Getting from the Puerto Vallarta Airport to Garza Blanca Resort:

Book airport taxi upon arrival: After passing through customs at the airport, you will come up to the airport taxi options.  You will likely be approached by persistent timeshare rental salespeople who will offer you various incentives.  Move past them to the taxi drivers.

Arrange transportation prior to arrival: For travelers looking to arrange transportation to the resort prior to arrival, you can contact Garza Blanca Resort's pre-arrival concierge at personalconcierge8@taferresorts.com.  This option is more expensive than the airport taxi, but may offer you more ease and convenience. Note: Ask about pricing ahead of time so you can gauge if this is the right choice for you.

Day trips from the resort:

For those of you looking to explore various areas outside of the resort, the front desk can help you arrange transportation for your day trips upon arrival.

Travel + COVID

Traveling during the time of COVID can be confusing. Here is a quick overview of the situation in Puerto Vallarta and some resources to help navigate the situation. Note, we recommend confirming the latest travel requirements with your airline.

Garza Blanca offers COVID tests for guests and has a number of COVID precautionary protocols in place. More info below. IN ORDER TO RETURN TO THE USA, YOU MUST HAVE A NEGATIVE COVID TEST RESULT WITHIN 72 HOURS OF DEPARTURE.  Upon arrival at the resort, you can schedule your COVID test for your return at check-in.

The COVID situation in Mexico is improving. There are about 20 reported cases of COVID per 100k people per day, and this number is decreasing. Puerto Vallarta is on the border of two Mexican states, Jalisco and Nayarit. The state of Jalisco, where Puerto Vallarta is located, has a “yellow” status from the Mexican government. Nayarit, just north of Puerto Vallarta, has a “green” status. Read more about Mexico's COVID statuses here. About 40-50% of Mexico’s total population and about 80% of hospitality workers in Puerto Vallarta are vaccinated. 67% of those over 18 have received at least one dose of vaccine in the state of Jalisco. The precautions and expectations concerning COVID in Mexico look very similar to the United States. Expect to wear masks while indoors; businesses are running at slightly reduced capacity; and wedding events will be held outdoors.  See below websites for more information.
