Nusa Ceningan
Nusa Ceningan is one of three beautiful small islands located off the south-east coast of Bali. A 30-minute fast boat trip will get you to Nusa Lembongan, the busiest of the three islands, which is connected to Nusa Ceningan by a bright yellow bridge.
Nusa Ceningan is our favourite place to holiday - we fell in love with the crystal clear blue waters, delicious Indonesian and Western food, friendly people, amazing surf and of course the $5 sunset cocktails. We hope that you will love it as much as we do!
To get to Nusa Ceningan, you first need to take a 30-minute fast boat trip from Sanur on mainland Bali to Nusa Lembongan. Boats travel in both directions in the mornings and afternoons – specific times vary between companies, however generally the boats run at approximately 9-10am, 1-2pm and 4-5pm.
There are two options to consider when catching the boat across to Nusa Lembongan.
1. You can stay overnight in mainland Bali, which allows you to catch the boat across to Nusa Lembongan the next day at any time you like. The boat company can transport you from your accommodation to the boat harbour in Sanur.
2. If you would like to fly into mainland Bali and catch the boat across to Nusa Lembongan on the SAME day, you will need to take a morning flight from Australia and land in Bali at about lunchtime so that you have plenty of time to get to the boat harbour for a 5pm trip. The boat company can transport you from the airport to the boat harbour in Sanur.
Once your boat has arrived in Nusa Lembongan, the company that you travelled with will transport you and your luggage to the Yellow Bridge that connects Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan. The Yellow Bridge is not wide enough to fit a car, so you will need to walk across it with your luggage. Once on the other side of the Yellow Bridge (and finally on Nusa Ceningan!) it is the responsibility of your accommodation to pick you up and take you to where you are staying. You will need to notify your accommodation in advance of what time you will be catching the boat over and through which company, so they can be ready to pick you up from the Yellow Bridge.
In summary:
1. Once you have organised your flights, book your boat transfer online making sure you let the company know where you need to be picked up from and dropped off (accommodation or airport).
2. When you book your accommodation, let them know what time you are catching the boat from Sanur and through which company, so they can be ready to pick you up from the Yellow Bridge.
Recommended boat companies:
- Scoot Fast Cruise (yet to recommence following the pandemic)
- D’Camel Fast Ferry
- Rocky Fast Cruise
It’s a lot of information and we know it’s a massive trek to get to Nusa Ceningan, so we are incredibly grateful that you are making the journey with us for our special day! If you have any questions at all, or need any help organising boat transfers or transport, please contact either of us!
When you arrive at Nusa Lembongan on the boat, you and your luggage will be transported to your accommodation via a small truck/car. Other than this, the main form of transport on and between the islands is using a motorised scooter. A scooter can be rented through your hotel for no more than $10 a day, or if you ask around there are plenty of locals who would be happy to transport you around. The roads are narrow, but they are all sealed. If you would rather alternative transport, please let us know and we are more than happy to organise this for you!
Whilst Nusa Lembongan is only a short 15-minute scooter ride from Nusa Ceningan, the yellow bridge is too narrow for trucks/cars and so the easiest ways to cross the bridge are via foot or scooter. We highly recommend staying on Nusa Ceningan for the few days of the wedding events. Some accommodation options are listed below, and these are all VERY close to the wedding venues!
