Karima & Yasir

Karima and Yasir met at work on January 6, 2014 - Karima's first day at Twilio. 

How Karima remembers it:
Karima called Kesha a week after starting at Twilio and mentioned a cute boy at work who was on her team, but said that it was just a silly “work crush” and nothing would ever come of it.

How Yasir remembers it:
Yasir spotted Karima by their team’s desks, but wanted to play it cool and let her say hi to him first. But, a few hours later, they ran into each other in the office kitchen - Karima said “Hey, you’re Yasir!” and Yasir, well, Yasir had his jaw to the floor. We’ll keep it at that.

Fast forward two years later, and Karima had already moved to Dublin. On her first trip back to San Francisco (May 20, 2016), Yas jumped at the opportunity to plan a get-together with their friends (he couldn't wait, and planned it for the night she landed), at a classy little place in San Francisco called Butter. They were both a bit nervous to see each other for the first time after so long, but that didn’t stop KARIMA from making the first move. Enough said.

The next few years consisted of FaceTiming overseas, starting a journey together in London, and Yas dealing with Karima’s obnoxiously loud vocal cords. All of these things, and more, made Yas confident that Karima was the one for him. He knew he had to act fast before she realized what she’d gotten herself into, and so on August 30, 2019, Yas proposed and locked her into a long-term contract. #sales

And now... we’re planning a wedding! Well, Karima is planning the wedding and Yas is writing this story (and negotiating with vendors). But, in either case, we’re excited to celebrate with you and we hope that you can join us for this special occasion.
