Saranac Lake Airport (SLK)

The local regional airport is the Saranac Lake Airport (SLK) and is located 20 minutes from downtown Lake Placid.  SLK has daily commercial flights provided by Cape Air to/from Boston's Logan International Airport.

By Plane to Albany, NY

Albany Int'l Airport (ALB)

Lake Placid is 132 miles North of Albany International Airport (ALB) in Albany, NY.  ALB is serviced by all major commercial airlines.

From Albany, you will need to rent a car or take a car service to drive to Lake Placid. Driving from Albany to Lake Placid is a relatively easy straight shot North on I-87 N and will take about 2 hours.

By Plane to Burlington, VT

Burlington Int'l Airport (BTV)

Lake Placid is 64 miles slightly Southwest of Burlington International Airport (BTV) in Burlington, VT.  BTV is serviced by all major commercial airlines.

From Burlington, you will need to rent a car or take a car service to drive to Lake Placid.  Driving from Burlington to Lake Placid, a beautiful drive through the mountains, is relatively easy, but will take approximately 2 hours (despite being only 64 miles).

Driving to Lake Placid

From New York City - Lake Placid is 292 miles North of New York City. The Drive from New York City to Lake Placid takes approximately 5 hours and is a fantastic way to see New York's historic Hudson River Valley and some of upstate New York's charming most towns (Sleepy Hollow, Croton-on-Hudson, Saugerties, Catskill, Hudson, Saratoga Springs, Lake George, and more).

From Boston, MA - Lake Placid is 259 miles Northwest from Boston, MA.  The drive, a scenic tour through New England, should take approximately 5 hours.

From Washington D.C. - Lake Placid is 502 miles Northeast of Washington D.C..  The drive should take a little over 8 hours, with the fastest route taking you North by New York City.
