The Story of Us

It was February 15, 2018. I was on my way out of a client’s office in the elevator, oblivious as to who was about to enter my life and forever change it for the better. Jon took the opportunity to introduce himself and explain that he recently moved to Dallas from Denver and was interested in networking. We subsequently exchanged business cards and agreed to meet up in the near future to see how we may be able to work together. While I of course found him attractive and charming, I wasn’t considering anything outside of a business relationship. Fast forward a few days later and that changed very quickly. Jon met up with some of my girlfriends and me on a Saturday afternoon. We proceeded to get to know each other, watch sports, let Belle out and then go out to dinner with my friends. He even pretended to like margaritas when I ordered him one at my favorite dive Mexican food spot nearby. By the end of the evening, I knew I wanted to see him again but wasn’t sure how he felt. The next day he reached out and asked if I wanted to get together again. We barely spent a day apart after that... Over the past year we have travelled near and far to get to know each other, our families, our closest friends, etc. and found that we not only enjoy doing the same things but value our family and friends more than anything. Fast forward to last December when Jon was starting a new job and had to spend a week in New York City for training. Given he had never been there, I decided to fly out for the weekend so that he could experience the city together. We had plans to see a Broadway play, visit various historic areas and points of interest and enjoy great food. Little did I know that he had a diamond ring in his briefcase and was hoping to find a moment in front of the Rockefeller Center Tree to propose. He made it happen that Friday, December 14, 2018. Somehow, even while I had our whole weekend planned out, he pulled it off flawlessly, had the moment captured by a photographer and surprised everyone.
