our first date

First date, Empellon... Jocelyn hates Mexican and I was full from tasting dishes at the restaurant all day. We barely touched the food but dinner stretched itself into a 3 hour event. Conversation flew like wine. She made me smile, and laugh, and brought out every ounce of good inside me. Little did we know, this would be our last first date.

I walked Jocelyn to her building, went in for a “see ya later” kiss and headed home myself. She, finding herself head over heels, realizes she needed to find a reason to talk to me. As I hear my phone ding, I open the message to find “did you know there was an earthquake in New Jersey that people felt as far away as Long Island?” This may or may not have actually happened. But, seeing as she was the most amazing woman I'd ever met I acted interested in the news story and this is what started the conversation that led to the next date, and the next, and the next.

our first getaway - kent falls
first vacation - Palm Springs!
a few more months in...

We were visiting Seattle for my birthday and Joe told me that he wanted to meet a friend for drinks around 6pm. Thinking that we were probably going to a dive bar and we had recently discovered that Seattle has steep hills, I decided to be comfortable...leopard sweatshirt and bright yellow sneakers.

Joe asked, "Are you sure you want to wear that?"

I said, "Um, yes. Have you not seen the hills here?"

He said, "Ok, it's on you."

I said, "Ok, thank you."

We walk down towards the water to an antique market nearby. After looking through, he makes us stop outside so that I can take pictures of him. I should have realized this wasn't normal but, not thinking anything of it I kept on snapping away. It turns out Joe was frantically downloading Google Maps to find the pin the photographer had dropped for him to propose. After the photoshoot was over, Joe suggested that we head on over to the pier since we still had time before meeting his "friend". So we head to the water. As we get closer, I tell him the view is beautiful and we should take a picture,  "NO! Let's keep on walking". He guides us around a bend and further out on the pier towards the ferris wheel. Completely oblivious to everything around me, I start taking pictures of the ferris wheel and the harbor when I heard him call my name.

"Hey Joc..." he said. As I turn around, I see Joe down on one knee, with a tiny blue box in his hand. Looking straight into my eyes, he asks me to marry him. I'm so in shock that I take a step back and then I fall onto my knees and say "YES".
