How we first met?

Megs: We first met (but didn't match!) whilst Jo was doing some guest coaching sessions at HKFC. Her coaching style was very different, and far more intense than I was used to, and after my 20th pitch sprint I think I was heard saying 'if she comes back, I'll never play rugby again!'.

We exchanged a few messages, got to know each other and on NYE Jo asked me out on a date... and what a first date it was!

Jo’s version..... it was love at first sight!!! After meeting Megan a few times through rugby and other social events, I soon realized that I wanted to get to know this wonderful, vivacious whirlwind.... so on New Year’s Eve 2018 I asked her on a date... it was the best thing I’d done all year!

Our First Date

Megs: The excitement I had been feeling for our first date soon turned to nerves as I approached our meeting point, a lovely Italian restaurant in Wan Chai. I was running late and Jo had told me she was at the bar with a drink.

I finally arrived and the waitress said there was no-one here who matched her description... and after walking a couple of laps of the dining area we both concluded, embarrassingly, she wasn't there.

I left the restaurant to find messages on my phone from Jo informing me she had inadvertently (!!) given me the wrong location. After a sweaty 20 minute walk through the Wan Chai wet markets, I arrived at a completely empty Shisha Bar to find Jo sitting apologetically at the bar.

We enjoyed an awkward beer and then wandered back to the Italian resturant I had previously surveyed, and fell into an evening of great conversation and continual laughter... and the rest was history!

'When you know you know'

Jo: I wanted to be sure this lady was really interested in me so I sent her on a mission.... to find me! Turns out after a walk through a smelly fish market and going to the wrong bar it only made Cupid fire his arrow even more accurately! Laughter, laughter and more laughter made me realize I had met the one.... and from that night I knew Megan would change my life forever. ❤️

The Proposal

Jo: Elephants, mopeds and champagne

After an evening flight to Phuket the alarm went off at 6am on Saturday 23rd March....Megan was less than impressed and just couldn’t understand why she “just couldn’t have one peaceful lie in”!!! I woke her up and explained we were going to an elephant sanctuary... little did she know that 2hrs later I would be down on one knee proposing.... in wellies!

To say this was the most nerve wrecking experience of my life would be no understatement; my heart rate was +140 and my hands were shaking... but in true Megan style she said yes and burst into laughter, smiles and tears.... The most perfect “yes” I ever heard. Well it would’ve been if she said yes... she actually just said “oh my god” over and over again, went to grab the ring and gave me a massive cuddle... I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way! Eventually the “yes” came, the elephants carried on their business and I became the happiest woman on the planet.

Whilst it was a perfect morning Megan did have one question for me; “you knew your were going to propose and you chose to wear wellies”...??!!!
