TRAVEL TO AND AROUND POSITANO
PLANE
The nearest airport to Positano is Naples Capodichino International Airport (NAP).
The next closest airport is Rome (FCO). Trains run frequently between Rome's Stazione Termini and Naples's Stazione Centrale (Central Railway Station).
From Naples, simply take a taxi or a "car hire" to Positano, which takes about 1.5 hours.
TRAIN
If you are traveling around Italy before or after the wedding (and we hope you are!), we highly recommend getting around by train. It is the easiest, least stressful and most efficient means of travel around the country. The high-speed trains are best, and go to the major cities in Italy (e.g., Rome, Florence, Milan and Venice).
When you’re ready to come to Positano, take the train to Naples and then take a taxi or a "car hire" to Positano, which takes about 1.5 hours.
We definitely do not recommend renting a car!
The roads are very difficult to navigate the town of Positano and you will not need a car since everything in town is within walking distance.
While Positano is a walkable city, it does require taking a lot of stairs. If you need transportation to any of our events, whether it be a taxi or a buggy, please reach out to Jen or Lalo for details.
Additionally, a new elevator was recently built in Positano. Depending on your where you're staying, it may help you get to the wedding more easily. The elevator can be found in the parking structure of Parcheggio Liparlati, which will take you up, and from there, you'll be a 1 minute walk away from our villa. It costs 1 euro to ride it. We've included a link to its location on Google Maps below.
And, if you’re feeling adventurous and would like to do any extra day excursions to other towns, we recommend going by taxi and/or by boat. You can find all the ferry times to other towns at directferries.com
BEACH DAY
The weather should still be quite lovely and since this is your vacation, why not relax for a day on one of the amazing local beaches?
Here a couple of suggestions:
*Spiaggia Grande: Positano’s Main & VIP beach
*Fornillo beach: 10-minute walk along Via dei Positanesi d’America
*General Tip: Beaches in Positano are run by private establishments offering sun loungers, umbrellas and facilities for a fee. On Spiaggia Grande, there is a section of beach—closer to where the ferries dock—that is free, so you can just lay down your beach towel.
WINE TASTING
The Campania region in Amalfi has a winemaking tradition of over 2000 years. There are plenty of wine operators around the region to help guide you to various wineries and tasting rooms.
VISIT POMPEII
Whether you do this while in Naples or in Positano, Pompeii is one of the most famous destinations that you can’t miss!
SEA ACTIVITIES
The area offers so many lovely sea activities such as diving, snorkeling, kayak and private boat tours. One very popular one is a boat tour to the island of Capri.
