Jenna and Davis Meet at USC

Davis and Jenna met in the summer of 2008 when Davis' fraternity brother, Eric, moved into the same apartment complex as Jenna. The three would develop a great bond over Grey Goose, Blue Dream and global politics. But mostly the Grey Goose.

Davis woos Jenna in LA

Throughout college, Jenna and Davis become close friends, mostly over extravagant parties, like here, when their good friend rented out Mohammad Hadid's house in Beverly Hills for a week of debauchery. Because, college?

Jenna's email to Davis 5/12/12

It if wasn't clear to her already, Davis earned a special place in Jenna's heart when he became the one person she turned to to finish her final paper and complete her graduate degree from USC. Davis heroically helped draft a paper on the Muslim Brotherhood over a matter of days, and his willingness to step up in her time of vulnerability is something Jenna still remembers like it was yesterday.

The Yacht Trip

In the summer after grad school - and during Jenna's career identity crisis - Davis asked Jenna to come to Connecticut to discuss a start up that he and friends were building. After a fun weekend visiting her best friend Annie in NYC, Jenna took the train up to Connecticut and began a trip that would change her life.

Yes, Davis and Robbie were developing a startup idea. Yes, they wanted Jenna to get involved. But more importantly, Davis opened up to Jenna that he had feelings for her over the last several years and wanted to date her. Jenna promptly said no. "I just graduated, I don't have a job, I don't know where I'm even going to live yet. Now is the worst time for me to get a boyfriend."

Discouraged, but determined, Davis still spent the next several days making minor romantic passes at Jenna.

Then came the call.

Remember the friend that introduced them, Eric? (Should we call him Cupid at this point?) Well, Eric called and invited his two best guy friends, Robbie and Davis, on a yacht trip in the Mediterranean for two weeks. And they could bring dates.

Seizing the opportunity, Davis tried again to get Jenna to go on a real date with him. "I know you said all these reasons, but... do you want to go on a yacht trip with me for two weeks? As my date?"

Naturally, Jenna agreed. After all, she didn't have a job yet..or a place to live.. ;)

Needless to say, in some of the most romantic parts of the world - the French Riviera, the Italian Amalfi Coast, and onboard a chartered yacht - Jenna and Davis began a new chapter in their relationship.

Wine tasting Mendoza, Argentina

Back to reality, and back in the US, Davis and Jenna adjusted to long distance romance (Davis in Connecticut, Jenna in California). To make matters more difficult, Jenna and Annie had already planned a two month trip through South America.

Realizing this would be a very long time apart, Davis decides to crash part of their trip, and join them in Argentina for a week at the end of their journey.

During their time together in Argentina, Annie, Jenna and Davis trekked from Buenos Aires to Mendoza (the Napa Valley of South America) to sip on the world's best Malbec wine, shown here at the Alta Vista winery.

Midnight Tour of Moscow

In the early stages of their first major startup, Jenna and Davis traveled to Moscow, Russia to meet with Eric, their friend and mentor.

On this late December evening, as Pasha showed them around the city, it was literally the coldest Jenna and Davis had ever been in their lives.

Family Time in Boulder, CO

In 2013, after months of long distance, Jenna and Davis move in together in Boulder, CO. 9 months later... just kidding. A few months later, Jenna adopts Rockie from the shelter and they become a family of 4.

Max, Rockie, Davis and Jenna will go on to share years of good times playing ball at the park, getting snuggles at home, and being a constant source of dog hair and shredded toys on the floor.

Yacht Trip - Reborn 2013

In undoubtedly the most luxurious trip of a lifetime, Jenna and Davis returned one year after their inaugural yacht trip to join their friends aboard REBORN, of the largest yachts in the world.

With the transition from 'great friends' to 'lovers/best friends/business partners/roommates' in full swing, this yacht trip was all about letting loose (and there are many pictures to prove it!)

Seriously, they are so tiny next to this boat.

Jenna Meets Memphis

Over the holidays, Davis invited Jenna back to Memphis. As classic post-college Thanksgiving holidays go, this meant all his friends from high school would be around.

The ever-planner Jenna decides to get in front of this major *meet and greet* by coordinating a surprise outing in Downtown Memphis to celebrate Davis' early birthday.

Based on the smiles, it was a great time, and Jenna made a great first impression with Davis' closest buddies.

USC Trojan Love

Jenna and Davis moved back to Los Angeles in 2014, as the cannabis market was heating up in California. They attended their first USC Homecoming game as a couple, which surprised and elated many of their friends.

The Best Irresponsible Decision

Oh, Walter.

While Davis was completing community service at an animal shelter, out of the pure goodness of his heart (read: mandated by the State of California for marijuana violations) he happened along the saddest, loudest dog you've ever seen.

Walter, a 130 pound Husky/Malamute, had been terribly abused and neglected and was surrendered by his owner. He only stopped howling at the shelter when Davis would come talk to him outside his cage.

One day, Davis came home and said, "Hey babe... there's this poor dog that came into the shelter the other day, and he only stops howling when I go hang out by his cage. It's breaking my heart." Jenna knew immediately that they needed to bring this dog home.

The next day, Jenna drove up to the shelter and adopted the dog. They named him Walter, and he expanded their capacity for patience and love beyond what they could have ever imagined!

*Sidenote, for those of you with one dog, getting a second dog has a lot of benefits and Jenna and Davis loved it. Getting a third dog is COMPLETELY different. Once you're outnumbered, you're in trouble.

First Vacation - Hawaii 2015

As many of you know, Jenna and Davis both err on the side of workaholics. And though their early relationship was full of travel, the subsequent months turned into years quickly, and it was mid-2015 before they looked up and realized they hadn't taken their *own* vacation.. maybe ever!

Between helicopter tours over volcanoes, cruising the backcountry in a drop top Jeep, and seeking out secluded tide pools, their trip to the Big Island of Hawaii was exactly what they had hoped for.

Viva Puerto Rico

The ever-anarchist, Davis lead a family move across country to the beautiful island of Puerto Rico - a tax haven for US residents under their new Act 20/22 tax program.

The culture, the food, the people, the language - it was all incredible and a big adjustment. Evenings were filled with the sounds of Coqui frogs (literally, every evening) and mofongo, tostones and Medallas replaced salads and Napa Valley wines. Tropical birds, iguanas, and torrential rains decorated the most lush tropical rain forests bubbling out of the city of San Juan.

After nearly 2 years, and due to new California cannabis residency requirements, Jenna and Davis left the island and returned to Northern California.

Sadly, mere months after they left, the island was nearly destroyed by Hurricane Maria. Jenna and Davis are so grateful to have experienced Puerto Rico in all its beauty, and blessed to have dodged a major catastrophic event that will change the shape of the island forever.

The Cannabis Farm

With California poised to pass cannabis regulation, Jenna and Davis moved onto a farm in Northern California to manage cultivation operations in 2017.

The rural county, 45 minutes west of Reno, NV, was tranquil and beautiful. The greenhouses, pictured here, were the culmination of a team effort, battling weather, pests, soil and water issues along the way.

At the end of the year, however, the county rejected 3 years of work on regulations, instead choosing to ban cultivation for the next 2 years. This was the only year that the greenhouses were operational.

Carter & Jana's Wedding!

Labor Day 2018, Jenna and Davis spent a very special weekend in Memphis, TN for Davis' brother, Carter, and his fiancee, Jana's wedding. It was a Lawyer family affair if you've ever seen one!

The weekend was full of love, laughter, surprises (Elvis!) and dancing. Jenna and Davis have a lot to live up to!

Jenna and Davis are Engaged!

After 10 years of friendship and 7 years of partnership, Davis pops the question and Jenna says yes!

A surprise to everyone - including Davis' parents, who were in town visiting from Memphis - Davis got down on one knee at The Getty Center on August 30, 2019. Overlooking Los Angeles, a city that has been a central home throughout their relationship - Davis and Jenna are engaged!

Jenna's parents, en route to Los Angeles to visit with them and Davis' parents, we're also surprised and thrilled! The weekend ensued with lots of champagne, laughter, tears (of joy, obviously) and many *finally!* messages from friends and family.

Wedding Bells are Ringing

WE'RE GETTING MARRIED!!!!

And while a picture is worth a thousand words, for those who prefer words, here are Jenna's describing their relationship:

Davis and I are both intellectual nerds with wild sides. We debate alternative theories of law, read prolifically, and are passionate about disruptive technologies that will revolutionize how society is organized (aquamarine culture, hemp-concrete, offshore cities, special economic zones, etc.) When we're not plotting global takeover, we're engaged in serious game nights with friends, or enjoying craft cocktails at classic LA watering holes. Together we have started several companies and seven years later are still working together! International travel is our favorite hobby, and we've traveled many countries together, most specially - sipping our way through wine country in Mendoza, Argentina; eating & dancing our way through Moscow & the French Riviera; adventuring in the Belizean rainforest and soaking up rich Italian history and culture in Rome. We have rescued three big dogs over the years, and together our fur family is a pack with an unbreakable bond.
