1. WHAT SHOULD I WEAR? IS THERE A DRESS CODE?
The dress code for our wedding is semi-formal/cocktail attire. Ladies should wear cocktail dresses (light or pastel colors are recommended for the summer weather), and the gentlemen should wear a suit or sports coat.
2. WHAT WILL THE WEATHER BE LIKE THIS TIME OF YEAR?
Historically in NYC, early August normally sees daytime high temperatures in the low to mid 80’s F (27-29C) and overnight lows tend to be mostly in the mid to upper 60’s F (19–21C). The average humidity for NYC averages between 50% and 75%, depending on the time of day. The church and reception venue will be air conditioned.
3. WHERE ARE THE CEREMONY AND THE RECEPTION TAKING PLACE?
The ceremony is going to be held at St. James Cathedral Basilica in Brooklyn. Cocktail hour and reception is taking place at The Palm House within the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Please check the schedule page for detailed information regarding the locations.
4. CAN I USE MY ELECTRONIC DEVICES DURING YOUR WEDDING?
We invite you to be fully present with us during our unplugged church ceremony. Please kindly turn off all cellphones and cameras and enjoy this moment with us. Professional photo and video will be captured and shared with our guests. Your personal photos and video are welcome at our reception! Share and tag #jenandmike2020
5. WHAT TIME SHOULD I ARRIVE?
We recommend that you arrive 15 minutes before the start of the ceremony to be seated. Please note that the ceremony will start promptly at the scheduled time.
6. WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE CEREMONY?
After the ceremony, guests can enjoy their free time around the area. We recommend exploring the scenery by the water in DUMBO then head over to Brooklyn Botanic Garden for Cocktail hour starting at 6pm where we will be serving hors d’oeuvres and beverages.
7. HOW DO I GET TO THE VENUE? IS THERE PARKING?
We recommend taking Uber/Lyft/Taxi since parking is not guaranteed. In the case you decide to drive, there are limited street parking spots available for the ceremony at St James Cathedral Basilica. For the wedding reception, please enter “1000 Washington Avenue Brooklyn NY 11225” into your smartphone map. This will take you to the proper entrance at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s Palm House. For a fee, there will be limited attendant parking available at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. The parking lot is located at 900 Washington Avenue.
8. ARE KIDS WELCOME?
We love your kids! Children who are attending must be registered on the guest list ahead of time so we can make accommodations for kids’ meals. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are bringing children.
9. CAN I BRING A DATE?
If you wish to bring your significant other or guest that was not listed on your invitation, please contact us at email@example.com, we will try our best to accommodate you.
10. WHEN IS THE RSVP DEADLINE? DO I NEED TO MAIL BACK MY RSVP OR CAN I DO IT ONLINE?
Please RSVP by May 31, 2020. You can RSVP on the RSVP page.
11. WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I CAN’T MAKE IT?
You will be missed! If you can not make it to the wedding, please let us know as soon as possible and RSVP “no,” so we can plan accordingly.
12. WHERE ARE YOU REGISTERED?
In Chinese and Vietnamese tradition, a red packet (Hóngbāo/Li Xi) is a gift that celebrates a couple's marriage. Red packet symbolize fortune and good luck. If you wish to help us celebrate with a gift online, please contribute on the 'registry' page.
13. DO YOU HAVE A HOTEL BLOCK FOR GUESTS? WHERE DO YOU RECOMMEND I STAY?
