I met Mia in the 3rd grade in Elementary School! Mia has always been that one friend that I never can get enough of. I’ve always enjoyed her company whether it’s a sleep over and she’s painting my nails like old times or were traveling across the world with food poisoning (true story she threw up next to me for 8 hours and I still love her). Her constant positivity is something that’s gotten me through some of my toughest days. The world needs more of her and I am happy to share just a little bit of her with you on our big day!
Amber and I met during the Freshman Summer Engineering Program at PVAMU. We instantly gravitated towards each other after learning we had basically lived identical lives in two different cities growing up. After moving to Minneapolis, I knew I would grow apart from some friends, but she never let the distance get in the way. She came to visit me, with added incentive that DRAKE was in town, and our relationship continued to grow together. Amber is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. Accompanied with her drive, willingness to help others (regardless of how they treat her), and great logical advice she has been one of the best friends a girl could ask for and I am so happy she chose to join me on this day.
I known Keyna ( pronounced key-nah), also known as my sister cousin, my whole life. Keyna and I would ALWAYS fight growing up as kids. It wasn’t until we were old enough to turn that energy into LOVE that we saw how powerful we were as a dynamic duo. When I learned I was going to Prairie View I couldn’t wait to have my cousin FULL TIME and brag about knowing upper classmen, let alone a student athlete and be around one of the MOST NURTURING persons I know. This meant I could still act like the big baby that I am lol. We have shared so many unforgettable moments throughout life and I can’t wait to add another to the books!
Christian and I played volleyball and ran track (very short lived for me) together in Junior High School. Christian is what I describe as my prayer warrior. Our time is best spent when we get to have just a little one on one time to catch up, explore and create. Her love for God, and teaching young children are what I admire most about her. You may find her joining in meaningful conversation or making new friends when she’s not on the dance floor!
My Ash Bash is everything that I am not ( in a good way)! We met during my first year living in Minneapolis. Soon after she became my roommate and best friend! Ashley just gets me, our birthdays being less than 10 days apart may play some part in that. Living with Ashley I learned there was no such thing as not having enough time, and that people will make room for YOUR table, if you bring it. This girl will take over your city in a heartbeat just like she’s taken over my heart. Ash isn’t much of a dancer, but she will take over the DJ BOOTH any day!
Whit Whit and I met through a mutual friend during a beautiful time in her life when she was interning in Minneapolis and recently re baptized. We bonded over a “sew-in gone wrong” and the rest has been history! We’ve traveled together to some of the most beautiful places in the world, and our relationship has continued to grow, even having always lived miles away. Her spunk, loyalty, and support are like none other. When she isn’t on the dance floor…trust she is only getting water… she’ll be back soon!
My bestman my right hand man, we grew up together as we used to go to the same church for a small stint. He was tall, lanky, and slim man with a high pitched laugh. We crossed paths again in 2010 at PVAMU when we noticed we were studying the same major(Mechanical Engineering). We became study partners, started hanging out together, then became roommates for the vast majority of our college years, then became line brothers. If there was any one person I could depend on in the time of need, one who will always have my back, that is Nnaji.
My bestman, my blood brother. Growing up and being 4 years apart from my brother I would always try to hang out with him and his friends and wear his clothes and shoes. We come from humble beginnings growing up in Chimney Hill(IFYKYK). The generous one would always take care of me, bring me food home and allow me to borrow his car when I didn’t have one. If there was any one person that would give you the last dollar in their pocket, the last clothes on their back, that is Andrew.
My childish partner in crime, its always a celebration and entertaining time everytime we link up. We met back in 2010 on the campus of PVAMU. We took Calculus II together, when I became a CA in Phase One building 8, he was one of my residents, cool and laid back then. The highlight of our time is when we lived one semester together which was my last and best semester, 103! We took our bond to another level when we began traveling domestically and internationally together. If there is one person that I can laugh and joke with from morning until night and never get bored, that is Kamon.
My man that is always down for the cause. When I first met this guy he always wore a New York fitted, a white/black tee, and some sperrys. We had almost every single class together in the Engineering building, and he also was apart of the squad in 103, our final semester of college. Post college, this man introduced me to “hand genades” when I visted him in NOLA during Mardi Gras season. He became the go to guy that is down for whatever no matter what. We’ve been all over the world together sometimes just the two of us and had a bomb time. If there is one person that is ever so down will never tell you “no” to a trip and will also look out for you at all times, that is Will.
My man who heavily influneced my study habits. Truth be told coming into college I wasn’t rolling with the right crowd. I was applying myself very minimaly, just getting over as I was enjoying this new college experience. We met freshman year taking our Mechanical design class together where I would annoy the teacher we had so much. This man helped me become more studious in my assignments, even though he always messed up the curve on every exam in the courses we took together. Also a member of the short lived 103 squad, he was always the guy you can confide in to gain advice and wisdom from. If there is one person you must depend on to not hesitate to give you a call to check on you and make sure everything is alright, that is Prentiss.
My man from high school that’s always been a real one. People in high school knew me for always cracking jokes all the time. I first met this guy in high school through mutual friends that wanted me to chop him up in front of a lot of classmates, which is exactly what happened. Cool thing was he took no offense and its been love ever since. He has always been one that is willing to support any endeavors. We have always been able to bounce ideas off each other and definitely have some things in the works. If there is one person that is always filled with positive vibes and will stick with you through thick and think, that is Ricky.
