Crazy thing about this story is that we are from the same city and never once laid eyes on each other or heard of each other until we went to college.
They first met in July 2010 at Jaguar Preview at Southern University A&M College. Sparkle was walking back to Totty Hall (girls dorm) and Jarvis and his friends were standing right in front the dorms trying to run game on all the girls as they walk in the dorm. Lol Jarvis spoke to Sparkle and she looked him up and down , rolled her eyes at him, and walked right past him. He eventually got the courage to inbox her on Facebook, of course she acted like she didn't know what he was talking about. They talk about that day and she apologized and told him , she was tired of people tryna talk to her, he said "I just wanna be cool with you." He went on to tell her , how good she looked and how he was tryna to speak to her after that day and she kept turning her head. She told him she didn't remember any of that but she was lying , she knew exactly what he was taking about. He eventually asked for her number and she ignored him for a couple of weeks after that, just to make him wait. She told him he was inpatient and She eventually gave her number to him. Even though she gave him her number , she still was acting funny with him and would ignore him BUT he never gave up and the rest is history!
Jarvis proposed to Sparkle around 3am Saturday December 3rd, 2016 in his bedroom. His proposal to her wasn't planned,he purchased her ring but he had no idea how he was going to ask her, all he knew was he wanted to marry her. He asked God for guidance, strength, and stability and in the spare of the moment he proposed to her from his heart.
That Friday night before they went out to a bar together, Jarvis was so mean to her all night.He was just picking with her. He picked fights with her for no reason, it got to a point that Sparkle started crying. That night she got in the bed, rolled over and Jarvis tapped her on her shoulder. He made her get up and sit on side of the bed, she stood up and he got one knee and asked her to marry him, she thought he was playing at first and she couldn't believe what she was seeing, she covered her eyes and turned her back toward him. She eventually turned around with her eyes still covered and SHE SAID YES!! It wasn't until after he placed the ring on her finger ,when she opened her eyes lol
The Bride was born February 22. She's 26 years old. She's from Monroe, La. She's the middle child. She has a older brother and a younger sister. She attended Southern University in Baton Rouge , where she graduated in December 2014 with a Bachelors degree in Nursing .She now works as a traveling nurse. She's sweet ,kind, charamastic, loving, has a huge heart , family oriented , extremly shy but she's the turn up queen, she love to joke and play , don't ask her opinion unless you want the truth , she always about doing the right thing. She hates all things girly , especially the color pink. She'll hang with guys over girls any day. She really doesn't like girls, she says" they come with too much drama "lol, that's the reason why majority of her bridesmaids are her cousins, loI . If you a girl and you her friend , consider yourself lucky.She really loves you , you mean a lot to her. She's cheap, she is not materialistic, she like anything as long as it's cute. She has a shoe fetish that her fiancé hates, she enjoys being alone, she enjoys playing drinking games , anything with water including the beach and water ballon fights . She is a big kid at heart . She has dreams of traveling the world, hence thats why she became a travel nurse. She wants 5 children; which is she willing to give birth to two of them and pay some else to have the rest lol.She wants to move into a huge house in another state , she plans to further her career as a Nurse Practitioner. She loves Jesus , she believes faith will get you through anything . Most importantly she loves and misses her bestfriend Trina, everything that she does ,she does for her, in honor of her.
The Groom's name is Jarvis Banks. He was born in Ferriday, La but lived in Monroe,La most of his life. He's the son of Lola Mckeel and Louis Banks. He graduated from Delta Community College with an Associates Degree in Process Technology. He currently works for the Monroe City Water treatment plant as a plant operator. He also has the pleasure of owning his own business along side some of his best friends entitled 318 Productions LLC. He loves traveling and loves being around family. He loves cooking and hearing people say” man Jarvis can cook"lol. If u ask anyone that knows him, they will say, he's a people person. He's always clowning around, cracking jokes, and making poeple laugh. He mostly loves when his family and his fiancés' family , get together and enjoy each other company . He love sports, basketball in particular. His favorite player is Dwayne Wade. He's a firm believer in God and committed/devoted prayer. The groom is so glad God has answered his prayers and blessed him with Sparkle. "She completes me",he says.
Our Wedding Day is July 21, 2018
We picked July because we first met in July at Southern University
We picked 21 because we got engaged on December 3rd and 2 plus 1 equals 3 (2+1=3)
We picked 2018 because we became a couple on Christmas Eve , 2011. Two plus zero plus one plus eight equals eleven (2+0+1+8=11).
So that's how we got the wedding date of July 21st, 2018
We devoted each and every Sunday beginning in February throughout May to marriage consueling learning the skills and foundation needed to have a successful marriage. We must admit that it was rough and it forced us to open up and step out of our comfort zone but it brought us closer in a way we never imagined. With the Bible being the basis of the foundation for marriage counseling, it has made our relationship with God grow tremendously. We would like to thank Pastor Jackson of Faith Harvest for devoting his time, sharing his knowledge, and being a listening ear, while helping us to get through all our obstacles and giving us the tools we needed to prepare for marriage.
We've been in each other's lives since July 2010, we started off as friends and became a couple on December 24, 2011. We were 18 years old when we first met and now we are 26 years old. We started our lives together in college, we've shared numerous life experiences together. We even got our first apartment together at the age 19. We knew early on that we wanted to spend our lives together. It's safe to say we were COLLEGE SWEETHEARTS. So you asked how long have we been together? As a couple, 7 years but in each lives, 8 years.
