OUR STORY

How We Met

Jake and Ashley met during the Summer of 2017 at Sycamore Brewery's Food Truck Friday. Ashley with her dog Merlot met up with her girlfriend from college, Bailey, and her (then recent, now husband) boyfriend Matt and his friends.
With Merlot in one hand and a crab cake sandwich in the other, Ashley sat across from Jake at the group's table and attempted to dig in. Jake, seeing Ashley struggling to eat her sandwich, offered to hold Merlot, and the rest is history...
Jake and Merlot fell in love instantly.

The Proposal

The weekend after her 25th birthday, Jake took Ashley on a special birthday trip to Asheville, NC. Little did she know how special it would actually be.
On Saturday morning Jake and Ashley--with Ries and Merlot in the lead--began an 11-mile hike on the Appalachian Trail from Lemon Gap to Max Patch. Nothing says "Happy Birthday" like a forced march. After a picnic and siesta with a scenic view of the Blue Ridge mountains, they began the return journey. In front of a natural tunnel of rhododendron trees, Jake got down on one knee and asked Ashley to marry him. Through a curtain of happy tears, she responded "Yes!"

Moving to Texas

It all started with a crazy idea.
What if Jake gave up his job to go back to school, and Ashley joined him on this spectacular adventure? An idea so crazy it just might work, we agreed to pursue the venture with Austin as the ideal landing spot.
This Texas town of tacos, tech, taco trucks, and Texas Longhorns immediately felt like a place we could call home. As a city that values an outdoorsy lifestyle, Austin has as many yoga studios as gun ranges which made it an easy sell for both of us.

Springdale Station

We switched venues! We are no longer getting married at Zilker Clubhouse. The celebration will now be held at Springdale Station in East Austin.

We decided to switch venues in order to allow for more social distancing and for the entire wedding to be held outdoors. In the event of bad weather, Springdale Station can host up to 400 people inside so our group of 70 will still have plenty of room to celebrate comfortably.

Dress Code

Semi-formal attire is encouraged. Our wedding will be held outdoors so please plan your attire & footwear accordingly.

Parking / Transportation

Ample free parking is available at Springdale Station. There is parking directly out front and there is an underused parking area which includes 350 spots directly behind Friends and Allies Brewery, just steps away from the back entrance of Springdale Station. While there is plenty of parking, we do encourage using Uber or Lyft for transportation.

Airport Information

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport

For guests who are flying in for the wedding, we recommend booking flights into and out of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, located just 15 minutes from our wedding venue. Once landed, both Uber and Lyft are available for your use.

Kimpton Hotel Van Zandt

A block of rooms has been set aside at the Kimpton Hotel Van Zandt in downtown Austin. Pre-wedding and post-wedding events will take place within walking distance to the Hotel Van Zandt. Free beer, wine, and margaritas will be provided every day from 5-6 pm during the hotel's social hour.

Vaquero Taquero started as a taco truck and now serves its street-style tacos for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in their brick and mortar location. Their menu is limited with only four taco choices and a couple of quesadillas. We recommend ordering one (or two) of everything and splitting with a friend!

Mozart's Coffee Roasters

In the mood for something a little sweet or maybe need a caffeine fix? Head to Mozart's Coffee Roasters, Ashley's favorite place to hunker down with her laptop to get some work done. Mozart's is located right on Lake Austin and has a large outdoor patio complete with old Texas oaks to sit under. Besides having delicious coffee, their pastries are to die for!

FAQs

Did you switch venues?

Yes, we switched venues in order to allow for more social distancing and for our wedding celebration to be entirely outside! Our new venue, Springdale Station, has the capacity to host 400 so our group of 70 will have plenty of space to celebrate comfortably.

When are RSVPs due?

Please RSVP by February 5th, 2021.

When are hotel reservations due?

Please book your hotel at the Van Zandt by January 27th, 2021.

What precautions are you taking for COVID-19?

We are closely monitoring all CDC coronavirus updates and are working closely with our vendors to create a safe event.

As of right now, we are limiting guest numbers to ensure we will be under the City of Austin's gathering guidelines. We will be encouraging masks & social distancing. There will also be hand sanitizer stations throughout our venue for everyone's use.

For those who do not feel comfortable attending in person, we will be live-streaming our wedding ceremony to celebrate virtually.

Can I bring my children?

Although we love your children we regretfully cannot accommodate them at the venue due to restricted numbers. We hope that you will see this as an opportunity to let your hair down and enjoy the party with us!

Are events indoors or outdoors?

To encourage covid safety, we are now planning to host our entire wedding celebration (ceremony & reception) outdoors, weather permitting. Please plan accordingly by wearing weather-appropriate clothing & shoes.

What will the weather be like?

Austin in March tends to have cool mornings & evenings but is absolute perfection during the day. Average temperatures are a low of 51° and a high of 73°

Is there a dress code?

Yes, semi-formal attire is encouraged. Please keep in mind that our wedding celebration will be outdoors so keep the weather & proper footwear in mind (we recommend layers).

Ladies - A cocktail dress with block heels, wedges, or flats.

Gentlemen - Dress shirt, dress pants, and dress shoes. Tie optional but jackets are a must, says Jake!

How do I get to the venue?

What time should I arrive?

The ceremony will begin at 4:30 pm on March 6th. We kindly ask our guests to start arriving by 4:00 pm to grab a drink and start mingling.

Can I take pictures during the ceremony?

We ask that all cell phones and cameras be turned off during the ceremony so that you can enjoy this special time with us. After the ceremony, please enjoy taking pictures!
