From Minnesota to Utah

Jake spent many summers in Utah with his family growing up. Always enjoying the summer and fall scenery, lift rides, and trips to Roots on Main Street, when Jake graduated from North Dakota State University, he decided to pack up and leave Minnesota and set out for the mountains. He and his adventure-loving dog, Kira, settled down in Park City. Days were then filled with mountain biking, snow boarding, and hiking. Jake now works as the Director of Security at Stein Eriksen Lodge.

From Pennsylvania to Utah

Ellen grew up in North East Pennsylvania loving nothing more than water skiing on Lake Ariel, walking in the woods, and spending time with her cousins. She quickly caught the travel bug after working in Scotland for a summer during college, and spent the next few years driving up and down the east coast and flying abroad on a few occasions. So, when the opportunity presented itself to move to Park City, Utah for work, she quickly jumped on board.

Room for Rent

Moving to Utah, Ellen was looking for a space to rent in Park City, and it just so happened that two kind gentlemen, Jake and Mike, had a spare room in their apartment they needed to rent out. That weekend, Jake offered to take Ellen skiing for the first time. A hard tumble and some stitches later, Ellen offered to buy Jake a drink as a thank you for staying with her despite the trip to ski patrol. They quickly became great friends and started dating 3 months later.

The Good Life

In May, Jake became a first time home owner, and the couple moved out of the city. In the beautiful mountains of Wanship, they overlook Rockport Reservoir. Winters may be beautiful with the elk herds passing through and the howl of coyotes at night, but they aren't always easy! With no city water in the winter, they learned to harvest rain/snow fall and live and die by the chains on their tires to get out, but they wouldn't change it for the world! They live there with their two dogs, Kira and Bourye, and enjoy every moment of it.
