Getting to the Wedding

Travel from Winnipeg to Falcon Trails Resort (Wedding Venue)

1.5-2 hr drive from Winnipeg via Hwy 1. Google maps can get you there. For those of you who don't use Google Maps, the directions are below:

From Winnipeg, follow Trans-Canada Hwy/MB-1 E to Falcon Blvd in Falcon Beach. Take the exit toward Falcon Lake/Manitoba 301 from Trans-Canada Hwy/MB-1 E. Turn left onto Trans-Canada Hwy/MB-1 E (signs for Route 135 E). Take the exit toward Falcon Lake/Manitoba 301. Take Ridge Rd and S Shore Rd to Ridge Rd in Whiteshell. Continue onto Falcon Blvd then turn right onto S Shore Rd and continue onto Ridge Rd. Continue straight onto S Shore Rd, then continue straight onto Ridge Rd. Arrive at Falcon Trails Resort (don't worry, they have signs)!

Places to Go and Things to Do!

If you aren't from the Winnipeg area...

Welcome! There are lots of great things to do in the area if you have some spare time.

If you are looking for more places to go camping/exploring, the whole Whiteshell region around Falcon lake is gorgeous. Kenora and Lake of the Woods are bigger towns with restaurants and places to stay. Minaki Yurt Adventures is another favourite place of ours. Closer to Winnipeg, Birds Hill Park has some really lovely campsites, lots of hiking and biking trails and a cute little beach.

If you have some extra time in the Peg, please consult Ivan and Georgia's Official Guide to Winnipeg below:

**note: a downside of our city is the public transit (or lack thereof). Having a car to get around isn't a bad idea!

-Visit the Exchange district for gorgeous architecture, good food, and cute shops (Shop Take Care, Vantage Vintage, and Into the Music are some favourites). While you're there, have a beer at the Yellow Dog pub where we had our first date :)

-The Forks has lovely river walks, a great food/beer hall, and a brand new patio overlooking the river.

-Definitely make a trip to Thermea nordic spa. 10/10 worth it.

-The new(ish) Canadian Museum of Human Rights is a really cool building and a good museum too!

-Winnipeg is bursting with awesome places to have coffee. Visit Cafe Postal (Ivan's home turf!), Little Sister, Fools and Horses, or Parlour.

-We have a ton of new local breweries with great taprooms. Check out Nonsuch, One Sixteen, Little Brown Jug, or Barnhammer.

-For summery fun times, the Beer Can, Bluenote Park, and the Garden are new outdoor beer gardens that sprung up during covid and are a wonderful new addition.

-While in Winnipeg, you have some serious eating to do. --> Our favourite brunch in town is Clementine (it's a must). Falafel place, Miss Brown's, the Tallest Poppy, and Stellas are some other local classics. Don't forget Juneberry, Ivan's other home turf.

>For a casual bite or lunch, some favs are King and Bannatyne, Vera Pizzeria, the Marion St Eatery, Corto sandwiches at the Forks, and Charisma.

>For something a bit more upscale or a nice dinner, we have some really great options (some of these places do lunch also). We can vouch for Enoteca, Harth, Sous Sol, Peasant Cookery, Passero and Deer+Almond. Maqué and Oxbow also have great reputations.

>For gorgeous cocktails and nice snacks, go to The Roost or Langside Grocery.

>For a dive bar or a good show, go to Times Change(d) High and Lonesome Club, Cousins, the Goodwill, or the Handsome Daughter.

>For sweet treats, Jenna Rae cakes and Oh Doughnuts are +++delish. Bridge Drive In is a classic Winnipeg spot for ice cream, but Fete is our favourite ice cream in town (small batch gourmet ice cream!)
