This is a story from the most special Valentine's day- One we'll never forget; 14th February, 2019.

How We Met (Itunu's side)

Because to every story there is more than one side, I'm going to tell this story how I saw it happen.

On the 19th of May, 2018 (Yes! I'm all about that precision, lol) I was at my church on day two of a three day conference called 'Reset'. I had volunteered to receive guests at the door, collect their names and give handouts as they came in. I had been at my duty post for a little over an hour when this slim, tall, young man wearing glasses and ankara pants walked in with his bag of fast food from 'Chicken Republic'. Let me not lie, I was like 'ah ahn, this guy looks alright o, but what's with the fast food early in the morning?' However as a sure babe, I carried on with my duties like the most good looking man at that event didn't just walk in.

I literally didn't even try to be more friendly than I'd been with previous guests because, once again as a correct babe, although he was a FINE man, I'm STILL the catch! LOL

At the end of the month I had to leave the country for the Netherlands, where I was till October. While I was away, I'd heard about this really good looking guy that now comes to church, who a few girls were also 'feeling'. I was curious to see who this new guy was.

I came in to church in the weekend of the second week of October, (I believe) and I noticed we had some new folk (at least they were to me) in church. At the end of service, Pastor Dupe asked me to stand up as they welcomed me back from my travels. Ini walks up to me and says "Hi Itunu, good to have you back". That was when I remembered where I'd met him and also that he was the 'new, good looking guy'.

I noticed how Ini was always very focused and diligent with his duties at church; friendly but not at all annoying. A month went by and I was curious about him and wondered what he was about. Some of you may or may not know that I'm a very shy person, so of course I didn't really make the effort to get to know him more, even though I wanted to.

As God will have it, he walked up to me on a Sunday in November, asked to see me before I left for home. We sat, chatted for a bit, exchanged numbers and then went our separate ways. The day after was his sister's birthday and I saw he had posted pictures on his Whatsapp status, once again in his 'School Uniform' (as I like to call it) AKA ankara pants. I seized the opportunity to text and tease him about his 'round-neck, plain T-shirt and ankara pants' uniform. That conversation went on for days, that turned into weeks. We barely slept because we were always texting or talking on the phone.

We were absolutely perfect for each other - great conversations, similar personalities, same values- so when he asked me out, it was such a no-brainer. Here we are a year+ later, about to say 'I do'. Look at God.

How we met (Ini’s side)

Sometime in May 2018 I was invited to ‘Reset’ a singles’ conference. It was a good Sunday service and everything was normal, until I heard a very pretty voice reading from a book into the microphone.

I immediately connected to the story she was reading. My very first thought was, “wow she’s so eloquent and beautiful.”

But since that was not my home church, I didn’t see her again. I had been looking for a new worship experience, so by the next month I became a member of her church. At this time she had travelled for holiday, but of course I didn’t know this (lol I didn’t even know her name) all I remembered was the picture of an intelligent, well spoken, beautiful and tall lady.

On the last Sunday in September (about 3 months after I had joined the church), I looked to my right during service and I saw someone dressed in a black dress sitting ‘rim rod’ straight. I don’t know how, but I knew she was the same person I saw that first Sunday a long while back.

I made a mental note to welcome her after service, thankfully Pastor Dupe (our amazing Pastor) mentioned her name while welcoming her back.

The next time we spoke was on the first Sunday in November, I asked her about what she does and we just got talking. We talked so much that sometimes we’d spend the better part of 12hours on the phone (crazy right?!)
