"But Beta, at least try, na?"
In 2018, in two different houses, two mothers urged their adult children to begin thinking of marriage. Their kids, however, were much too busy with their careers.
One day, Mrs. Hafiz (aka Tasneem Aunty) decided to take matters into her own hands. She reached out to an old friend who insisted that Emad connect with a young woman named Isra. Upon hearing of Isra, Emad looked up from his screen and halted his next business meeting. A seasoned entrepreneur, he immediately recognized a jewel when he saw one.
To "risk it for the biscuit" Emad immediately contacted Isra and asked her to meet at a place that specialized in...well...biscuits. When Isra replied with a mere "Fine", Emad confirmed his hunch- she wasn't any ordinary biscuit...she was one tough cookie!
After the Biscuit Bar meeting, Isra went home and told her mother, "Well, I guess he's okay, at least he's KINDA normal!", knowing Isra-isms quite well, Mrs. Bheda (aka Huma Aunty) knew that this translated into "Wow, I am impressed, he's VERY nice!"
With only a quick nod to Isra, she walked away and smiled to herself- something was on the horizon.
The next day, Emad reached out to Isra to tell her that he really enjoyed their conversation and would like to meet again.. this time Isra's reply was ... "Alright."
Alrighhhhhhht! Now Emad knew how to play his next move... cool, calm, and collected. He then asked Isra to meet , nearly a month later, at a Sushi Bar; a place twinkling with lights and abuzz with holiday cheer. He thought to himself... "Let's maki this special....maybe she's my soymate."
Little did he know, Isra had already realized "He makes miso happy." ....but she wasn't ready to let her walls down just yet...
For their third meeting, Isra & Emad decided to attend a comedy show....
Isra went in trying to keep her walls up, but quickly the sound of love (aka laughter), took over and Isra's true nature came tumbling out. Emad was right! He had known all along that this "Tough Cookie" was indeed, a kind and beautiful jewel.
3rd times the charm! After this meeting Emad decided to leave the "pun"chlines to the comedians and Isra decided to leave the walls to Trump. As they took the time to get to know each other they realized that their mothers' "old friend" (aka Shaheen Aunty) had been no ordinary friend. She had been Emad's teacher in Saudi Arabia, and years later, Isra's teacher in Dallas. They say that a teacher is a compass, guiding us to discover all that is new in this world.....
"A hundred, thousand things to see...let me share this whole new world with you."

Ruh Ruh Rona.....
So 2020 might not be exactly what everyone planned, but we are rollin' with it! We might be stuck inside, but we still have a Bride! And even with a new plan, she's still marrying the same Man! #CoronaCan'tTouchThis
However, we want to make sure our friends and family stay safe and healthy during this time. While adhering to social distancing guidelines, we will have a small and intimate ceremony, but have postponed our reception until it is safe. We really look forward to celebrating with everyone very soon, iA!
