Our Engagment

D’Juvayne wanted the proposal to be something very special to me. Something really close to my heart and he knows how much my home really means to me. By home I am referring to El Salvador. I was born in El Salvador and came to Canada at the age of 7 and travelled often if not every summer back home. D’Juvayne knows how much I love it there.

In Decemeber 2018 we spent Christmas and New Year’s in El Salvador. On January 4th which is my mom’s birthday and another special day, D’Juvayne suggested we spend the day with my mom to celebrate her birthday. This is the type of man he is. Always so loving and thoughtful.

We drove 1.5 hours to the Capital, San Salvador. We met up with my mom’s dear friend and her daughter and off we went to The San Salvador Volcano (also known as Quezaltepeque or El Boquerón). We drove up the mountain and hiked to the volcano’s peak taking in the gorgeous rich green trees, plants and wildlife along the way. Experiencing God’s creation was breathtaking and very romantic (this wasn’t the moment though).

After taking in the scenic view at the top of the volcano we headed for dinner. We ate at a restaurant not too far from the peak of the volcano, overlooking the city and its rich greenery. My mom’s dear friend suggested we take a private tour of the garden that had just been prepared for a wedding. We were the only family allowed in. We walked around and watched the sun go down. It was very beautiful to experience the city from this angle.

Then before I knew it DJ was on his knee asking me to marry him, in Spanish. I experienced every second of it. It felt very natural. Like I was just where I was supposed to be. I felt God’s presence, blessing us in this moment.
D’Juvayne had planned it all with my mom and her friend. It was an incredible day!
