Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to rent a car?
All of our weekend activities are centered around downtown Minneapolis (except for the actual ceremony) and are either walkable or reachable by cheap and available Ubers. On Sunday, we will have transport to take everyone from the Hewing and Four Seasons to Abella Farms for the ceremony and reception.
What should I wear?
Have fun with it! We'd love for people to wear colorful, festive cocktail attire with comfy shoes. Our ceremony will be in a field (on the grass), so we suggest avoiding stilettos (or bringing a change of shoes).
Please note that our reception is a short (5-8 minute) walk from the ceremony.
Minnesota early fall can range from quite warm (85 degrees) to a bit chilly (50 degrees), so it may be worth bringing a light jacket for the weekend.
What if I need help maneuvering the venue?
We will have transportation (and cocktails!) for anyone who needs assistance making their way around the venue or handling the 5-8 minute walk to the reception from the ceremony.
If you have any additional needs you are concerned about, please do not hesitate to reach out. We want everyone to have the best time at our celebration!
What's all this about a State Fair?
The fair will be open from 7 AM – 9:00 PM every day of the weekend. We suggest planning to spend 3-5 hours to see all there is to see at one of the biggest State Fairs in the country! Follow this guide to plan out your one-of-a-kind Midwest gastronomic experience.
Billed as "The Great Minnesota Get-Together," the Midwest's most popular fair draws more than 1.7 million people over 12 days in late August and early September. We are lucky enough that our wedding takes place while the fair is in town, and we can't wait for everyone to check it out. It's got animals, contests, everything fried and on a stick, butter sculptures, buckets overflowing with cookies and more!
Transportation will not be provided, but it's very easy to get to the fair - a short 10-15 minute rideshare from the hotels and also accessible via public transit. Parking is extremely limited so even if you have a car we'd recommend traveling by rideshare or public transit.
Tickets are available online and can also be purchased at each entrance.

How do we decide which hotel to stay in?
That's entirely up to you! The Hewing is a bit edgy, and located in the North Loop. We chose it for its unique vibe and cool communal areas. Each room is different and decorated to reflect an aspect of MSP. The Four Seasons has just opened and offers all the luxuries you would expect from this well-known brand.
Other hotels listed are a bit more affordable, and are from well-located and trusted companies.
Are my children invited?
We love your children, but for Rehearsal Dinner and Ceremony/Reception, they are only invited if named on the invitation.
However, please feel welcome to bring them to Welcome Drinks, the State Fair, and the Brunch!

The Walker
We cannot recommend visiting this renowned art museum enough! Definitely consider taking a walk around the Sculpture Garden, home to more than 40 iconic sculptures, including Spoonbridge & Cherry.
For the museum, tickets can easily be purchased on arrival. If you'd like to plan ahead, advance slots open up 2 weeks before your desired date.
