Just a few minutes from downtown and overlooking scenic White Rock Lake and the Dallas Skyline, The Dallas Arboretum offers 66 acres of lush gardens year round; however, the blooms are especially vibrant in the Spring. Often, you’ll be able to spot several sail boats on the lake adding to the picturesque nature of this site.

Katy Trail

This winding trail weaves through all of downtown Dallas to White Rock Lake. If you choose your portion of the trail carefully you may stumble across an ice house or brewery to help you along your walk.

This Dallas breakfast/brunch institution is nestled in the heart of Uptown. Although its menu features an extensive selection of items sure to please even the pickiest eaters, Chris recommends any of their variety of Egg Benedicts. Meredith (Package) recommends the McKinney scramble, Chris also recommends the “Leo’s favorite scramble”. Pro tip: On weekend mornings aim to arrive before 9:30am to beat the crowd.

Located on Oak Lawn entering Highland Park, this is the establishment where Chris had lunch on the day of the couples first date as well as the day he proposed.... They are famous for their hot lobster roll and keep your eyes peeled as it is also a frequent stop for W. and Laura Bush.

The consistent variety alongside classic staple dishes makes it a favorite dining destination of the couple and the city.

The site of the infamous picture of Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson which broke the story of Tom Laundry’s departure from the Dallas Cowboys. Junior Dallas Morning News reporter Ivan Maisel broke the story because his girlfriend wanted their famous brisket tacos. Jimmy and Jerry were also there for their brisket tacos and that’s what you should get too!!

Town Hearth

This quintessential Dallas Steakhouse set in the Design District by local Chef Nick Badovinus, attempts to out Dallas Dallas at Dallas’ favorite activity: being over the top. The restaurant features six-four chandeliers, a yellow submarine submerged into an aquarium in the middle of the restaurant, a 1961 MG parked in front of the open kitchen, booths designed from premium Italian airline leather, and a primo side of a vintage Ducati sport bike for $75,000. Not to be outdone by the decor, the menu features raw bar favorites with a Texas spin, a selection of 45 day dry aged steaks and classic home style desserts. This restaurant is a Dallas destination unto itself.

If you are feeling adventurous, the peanut butter and jelly bonbons are always a favorite.

Nestled in the heart of East Dallas, Pickletopia boosts a unique experience for its guests. This artisan pickler pickles anything you can think of that can be pickled and some you can’t. Don’t be shy they love sharing samples of their full range of products. If you have time, head across the street to Jimmys Food Store, an authentic Italian grocer with some of the best wine and sandwiches in Dallas.
