Gurkiran and Alkesh’s journey began just like your typical 19 year olds, at a Friday night college par… eh let’s go with a “study session at a library”. After that night, Alkesh became part of the “Brown Crew'' and would frequently hang out with Gurkiran and all her friends. From getting milkshakes from Deets, to random Kroger runs specifically for Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, to actually focusing and helping each other with school work, Gurkiran and Alkesh formed a budding friendship, which would all change forever on a chilly evening in November 2014. Alkesh finally mustered up the courage to ask Gurkiran out to dinner via text. “Hey, do you want to grab dinner at Social House?”, read the text. “Yeah! Let’s all go!”, replied Gurkiran. Alkesh knew that Gurkiran totally didn’t see the signs. You see, Gurkiran took a bit of teamwork and some help from her friends to realize that Alkesh is trying to ask her out, and not just any ordinary dinner. Once they started exclusively going out to dinners and movies, they forged a bond that would never be broken. In the past 7 years, Gurkiran and Alkesh have together achieved several accomplishments. They both graduated from Virginia Tech, began professional careers at Booz Allen Hamilton, and bought their first home! Gurkiran is captivated by how Alkesh seems to know “everything”, often calling him her “walking encyclopedia”. Alkesh comes pretty handy when Gurkiran is at a tough crossroad, such as differentiating left vs right or trying to quickly add 43 plus 21. Gurkiran always wanted a man who loves sports. If you know Alkesh, he’ll come across a random channel showing competitive laundry and find it amusing to watch. Alkesh’s passion for sports is unmatched and nothing can really come close to it. Even if the game is a blowout with the team up/down bad, he still insists on watching it until it is finished. The two work as an inseparable duo and accentuate each others’ strengths. Gurkiran is a tremendous organizer, and Alkesh is a stellar cook. They may often have different perspectives on what “clean” is, but even when they butt heads, it quickly turns into a joke or something funny Alkesh says that makes Gurkiran laugh. They are serious when required, but no one makes them laugh or smile like each other! As Gurkiran and Alkesh take the next step of their lives together, they have been able to look back and reflect on all that they’ve been blessed with. Both are eternally grateful for having such loving families who always want the best for their children. Gurkiran and Alkesh are appreciative for everything they do and will continue to do everything they can to make them proud. To all our friends, we are so fortunate to have each and every one of you in our lives. We can’t wait to see everyone soon and celebrate this joyous occasion! See you all in July…
