Jamie and Demi were introduced by a mutual friend of theirs, eHarmony. Both being hesitant about each other’s profile they decided to meet on a whim. On Friday, September 26, 2014 they met up at 25 Lusk in San Francisco’s SoMa District for their first date.
On that night Jamie waited nervously outside for Demi to arrive. As Demi turned the corner off Townsend Street walking towards 25 Lusk, she took a deep breath. She saw someone at the end of the street. Jamie turned and approached Demi. He asked, “Demi?”
As the awkwardness subsided, they found themselves sitting at the bar then lounging by a fire orb exchanging life stories. What Demi initially planned to be less than a hour turned into over two hours of a beautiful conversation. Both left their first date feeling serendipitous.
Their first date went so well that the very next day they decided to go on a second. Demi and Jamie explored San Francisco’s Haight and Mission Districts, and randomly decided to take a drive. They ended up at Ikea in Emeryville. Jamie joked as they walked in, “If we can survive Ikea together on our second date, we can get through anything.”
The Thursday of that week, Jamie planned a third date to the Lorde concert at the Greek theatre, which was pretty amazing. Afterward, they met Demi’s cousin Jane up on the Embarcadero, and the three traveled to Double Dutch in the Mission. They mingled and danced to old school hip-hop. As the night wound down, Jamie and Demi had their first kiss.
At this time Demi had an in-law studio in the Sunset and Jamie lived in an apartment flat in the Mission. Although within the same city, the Mission and Sunset Districts felt like worlds apart. They continued to see each other as regularly as possible.
Nowadays, they are still doing a lot of the same stuff they did at the start of their relationship! They attend concerts and sporting events; try new things, travel, watch TV and movies; connect with nature, and most importantly, spend quality time enjoying the simple pleasures of life.
Just over three years later on an early foggy Saturday, October 28th of 2017, Jamie drove Demi to Turtle Hill in San Francisco’s Sunset District (a spot they had visited before) where he proposed, and she said yes!

Jamie asked Demi to be his girlfriend at El Metate (located near his former apartment flat) in the Mission.

On October 28, 2017, Jamie took Demi to one of the first places they visited, Turtle Hill in the Sunset District, to see the sunrise. They walked up the beautiful tile steps of 16th and Moraga then up to Grand View Park. Jamie hoped for sunny skies to see the amazing view but the quintessential San Francisco fog prevailed, and ended up making that morning more intimate. No one else was there but them. Jamie got down on one knee and both started tearing up. Jamie said the past three years had been the happiest in his life because of her. Jamie asked, “Demarie Valera Dizon, will you marry me?” Demi said, “Yes, baby!”
