Where to stay
There's lots of accommodation - from Bed & Breakfast guest houses to whole houses - but they tend to fill up quite quickly in the summer. Please don't leave it too late if you want to stay in Pitlochry!
If you're going to stay here they'll give you what they call their best available rate, but you'll need to book with the hotel directly and give them a special code number - 010820BH.
The hotel's about 20 minutes walk from the centre of Pitlochry.
This place is right in the centre of Pitlochry, a couple of minutes walk from the train station.
It's owned by the same company that runs the Atholl Palace. They told us that if you book here, you can get a 10% discount off the bar rate by quoting the 010820BH code. Not exactly sure what 'bar rate' means. Even with the discount, it still might be cheaper through a website like booking.com.
Pitlochry also has a hostel and again it’s on the High Street, a few minutes walk from the station.

There are a few other hotels and B&Bs to stay in Pitlochry but they fill up quite quickly because of the volume of tourists.
There are several campsites and caravan parks in and around Pitlochry as well.

And as with almost all of Scotland, it’s also perfectly legal and free to camp on unenclosed land in the countryside around Pitlochry.
Perth has a lot of accommodation and it’s cheaper than Pitlochry. It’s about 30 miles away. There are trains and buses and taxis, but if a few people are going to be staying here we will arrange free transport for you, so you don’t have to worry about driving back after the reception! If you book somewhere in Perth, please let us know.
