LOOKING FOR AUTHENTIC FOOD?
Check out the local "sodas" and order yourself a hearty Casado. This dish consists in, basically, rice, beans, meat –it could be fish, chicken or meat in any of its presentations-, and green or pasta salad. You can't go wrong with this one!

Surfing

Surfing

Surfing is one of our most favorite activities in Costa Rica! Fun for first-timers and pros alike. If there is one thing you absolutely cannot leave Costa Rica without doing, it's surfing.

Our good friend Rama at Rama Surf will be sure to take care of you and your family. Give Rama a shout and tell him Matt and Eunice sent you his way. He'll treat everyone like royalty and you'll have the time of your lives.

Waterfalls

Nauyaca Waterfalls

The lush hills of the Costa Ballena are home to many stunning waterfalls but probably the most famous lies a half-hour into the mountains. The Nauyaca Waterfalls is one of Costa Rica’s most impressive cascades with two sets of falls measuring a combined 200 feet (61 meters) tall. The lower falls have a large pool where you can swim and jump into the cool water from the rocks. The upper falls have an impressive 140 foot (43 meter) cliff and are the perfect place to picnic. Most people access the Nauyaca by horseback on a tour, but you can also hike to the falls on your own or sit in the back of a pickup truck as it drives you right up to the waterfalls. Unless you're feeling up for a strenuous hike, we highly recommend the pick-up trucks. They're worth every penny.

Whale's Tail Beach

Whale's Tail Beach

One of the only marine parks in the country, Marino Ballena National Park offers plenty to do for beachgoers. There are several beautiful beaches where you can find your own piece of paradise, all backed by tall palm trees or shrubby beach almonds. Picnicking is commonplace here and you’ll see plenty of families set up with hammocks and grills. The real draw at Marino Ballena, though, is Punta Uvita, commonly called the whale tail. This naturally occurring sandbar is shaped just like a whale’s tail. At low tide, you can walk its length and explore the rocks and tide pools near the tip. The uneven rocks can be tricky, but the view of the majestic cloud-encased mountains makes it all worthwhile. This is a can't miss beach hike!

ATV Tour

ATV + Coffee Plantation Tour

With your own 4x4 quad and a knowledgeable bilingual guide, you’ll explore the mountains and valleys of the jungle finding little villages, working coffee plantations, secrete waterfalls, amazing views, wildlife… the list goes on. And if you don’t care about scenery and culture and just want to get your throttle on, let them know. This is an all-day tour and an absolute blast. They have single rider quads, two-seaters, and four-seaters for families. One of our favorites!

Things to Do - More

Other Things to Do

There is still so much you can do in the area!

+ Canyoning
+ Deep sea fishing
+ Zip lining
+ Kayaking
+ Hiking
+ White water rafting
+ Scuba diving
+ River tours
+ Snorkeling
+ Several other waterfalls
+ Osa Conservation
+ Corcovado National Park
+ Beaches for daaaaaays!!!

Worth a look too is heading up to Manuel Antonio Park for a morning day trip. It's about an hour away and you'll be able to see plenty of Sloths and Monkeys all over the park. One of the top parks in all of Costa Rica.

If you're planning on being extra adventurous you could also drive down to the famous Arenal Volcano to see the beautiful views and enjoy thermal hot springs and spas. The drive from Uvita to Arenal is a little difficult -- it will definitely require a 4x4 and a high tolerance for heights and zig zags!

And of course theres, shopping, eating, drinking, and even golf. Let us know if we can help you with suggestions or finding something to do that's more up your alley.
