Uber
Uber is available in Portugal and is a very cheap way of getting around. Download the Uber App and set up an account prior to booking an Uber.

Taxi
We recommend pre-booking a taxi from/to the airport and for any taxi needs while you are there. It is more expensive to just pick a taxi up at the airport so try and arrange this in advance before you land.

EATING OUT IN ERICEIRA

There are restaurants in abundance in Ericeira and most of them close from 4pm - 7pm so early lunches and late dinners are typical. Here are a few suggestions of where to get some lunch and dinner:

Com Pinta (+351 261 862 842)
Pinta is quirky with tasty burgers, pizza options and cocktails. Great staff and very reasonably priced. Located on Calçada da Baleia.

Tasca da Boa Viagem (+351 927 094 552)
Located on the harbour - you pick your fish; they weigh it and cook it simply. If you're a fish lover this is a must.

Calavera (+351 934 835 968)
Mexican food and Tequila bar in the old town. Dia de muertos theme! Fun, casual and funky.

Tik Tak (+351 261 863 246)
Always book in advance, one of the town's best! Located 50 metres north of the main square. The gambas are gorgeous and the steak platters too.

Tik Tapas (+351 261 869 235)
On Rua Do Ericiera. Follow the road in front of the Pracos dos Navagantes and you will find it. Delicious food similar to Tik Tak but in tapas form. Serves until 1am.

Mar D'Areia (+351 261 862 222)
Close to the big market and the large car park square in the centre of town. Great local seafood restaurant. Good lunch spot and always busy.

Ribas (+351 924 025 232)
Rua Mendes Leal – between the Praca da Republica main square and Praia dos Pescadores. "Sea food but no fish", meaning crabs, lobster, clams, barnacles, periwinkles etc. Bring earmuffs as customers bang loudly on the tables with large hammers to try and break open the food.

Prim (+351 261 865 230)
North of the main square – close to Tik Tak. Has a great outdoor terrace. Order steak on a hot plate and cook it yourself. Good fish also.

Brunch Me (+351 919 608 120)
In the Villa Ana Margarida Hotel in the heart of the old town. Highly recommended for sushi night.

O Caniço (+351 261 863 367)
Unassuming little spot, doesn't look like anything special but great fresh fish.

Na Onda (+351 913516675)
On Foz do Lizandro beach. Fantastic lunch salads & sandwiches. Pizza and other dishes available in the evening and themed cuisine on certain nights such as sushi nights.

Furnas (+351 261 864 870)
Stunning location overlooking the Atlantic. A superb selection of fish/lobster/crab – you get to choose your own on your way in. It can be found near the town Park behind the large Hotel Vila Gale.

Gafanhoto (+351 261 862 162)
Interesting local restaurant off the beaten path.

Canastra (+351 261 865 367)
Rua Capitao Joao Lopes. Popular sea food restaurant with an amazing clifftop view. Small so can be busy in summer. Make sure you explore the small streets where you will find many more restaurants.

Nightlife

Adega Bar 1987 – If you’re a bar person, Adega is your place to be in Ericeira. It’s the most popular bar around. On top of drinks, they also have great finger food.

Sunset Bamboo Bar – Offers a relaxed beach-town vibe and is a perfect spot for an afternoon drink. There's a light menu of sandwiches and snacks.

Vira Copos – Best view in town from their rooftop. Lovely tapas and beautiful wine. A must visit.

Pedro Pescadores - Nice chillout bar, just off the main street, Rua Eduardo Burnay.

Jukebox - This laid-back little spot blasts '80s alternative music (with occasional live music). It is known for mixing a decent cocktail.

Ouriço - One of Portugal’s oldest discos, catering to night owls of all ages.

Tubo – Popular among the twenty to thirty-somethings. There's live music every Wednesday and in summer from 10pm a DJ sets the mood.

BEACHES

Praia dos Pescadores: "Fishermen's Beach" is Ericeira's most central beach. It's the one with the fishing boats, popular with families and tourists, who stop to photograph the scenic harbor. It's' sheltered from the winds and swell, so has the calmest waters in town.

Praia do Matadouro: This beach is found between the central beaches and Ribeira d'Ilhas. It's popular among anglers, surfers and tourists, who stay at the colorful houses behind it.

Praia do Sul: The " Southern Beach" is the first beach to the south of the center of town. This is usually Ericeira's most crowded beach, as it's within walking distance of most hotels. It's slightly more sheltered so the waves tend to be a little calmer.

Praia da Foz do Lizandro: About 3km south of the center of town is the region's biggest beach. At it's southern end are the calm waters of the Lizandro River, while the northern end has a long boardwalk with outdoor cafés.

Praia São Lourenço: the most northerly of what are considered the area's beaches. This wide sandy and sheltered bay is a popular spot and is best known for two things; surfing and seafood. Approx 7km from Ercieria town.
