How We Met

Our story begins in 2010. No this was not love at first sight. In fact, everyone knew we would end up together well before we did ourselves. We are not really sure when we started dating. We were really good friends at first and then, at some point, we were no longer “just friends”.

It all started on Second South of Twin Towers at Albion. It was our junior year and we lived across the hall from each other. We would watch movies in each others rooms and play video games in Andy’s room. Andy and his roommate Khris had the perfect set up for people to come hangout. There were many late nights of movie watching and video game playing.

When junior year was over Andy and Khris left Albion to continue their engineering education at the University of Michigan. Lizzie would come visit on weekends. At some point during this year everyone, including ourselves, realized we were no longer friends and had moved on to dating.

In May of 2012, we graduated from Albion College, and Lizzie moved to Ann Arbor. Andy finished his education at the University of Michigan, and graduated with a second bachelors in 2013. He then moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa in February of 2014 to start his engineering job at Collins Aerospace (formerly Rockwell Collins).

Over the next several years we Skyped every night. Lizzie started taking prerequisite classes for nursing school and eventually started working on her BSN at Wayne State University. Andy would come back to Michigan about once a month to visit for long weekends.

In Winter if 2016, Lizzie was offered a job in the NICU at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. We were so excited to finally be in the same state again.

May 30, 2018 Andy popped the question. He had been trying to get Lizzie to leave all day to set up a scavenger hunt for her birthday, but she was being too stubborn to leave. So at 10:30 at night the scavenger hunt finally ended with a final clue that helped all the hints spell out “Will you marry me”. Of course she said yes and that brings us where we are today.
