Photos of the Island
Why Kauai Island?

This will be our first time traveling to Hawaii, we wanted to capture the beauty of being married at a waterfall and searched many different places. We also want to experience the tranquility of a tropical island.

Flying Here

Lihue Airport

Kauaʻi's main airport is Līhuʻe Airport (LIH) in southeastern Līhuʻe. Many airlines now offer non-stop service to Kauaʻi. There is also the option of flying into Honolulu International Airport (HNL) on Oʻahu first and then heading to Kauaʻi on a short, 25-minute flight.

We recommend booking your flight as early in advance as possible to obtain the best option and cost. Google flights also has an option where you can set an alert.

Transportation

The Sheraton Hotel is located 20-mins from the Lihue Airport.

Getting around Kauai is fairly easy. Having a rent a car on Kauai is pretty essential unless you plan on staying put at your vacation rental or resort.  A rental car is the best option for getting around Kauai. Having your own transportation will give you the flexibility to explore the island on your own schedule.

Uber and Lyft in Kauai can get you through towns and to your lodging from the airport. Rideshare services are allowed in the pickup and drop-off lanes at the airport, as well. However, parts of the island are quite remote, and you will not be able to find a rideshare in these areas.

Important Details

Kauai is known as the “Garden Island” because it rains often. Rain can come at a moment’s notice anywhere on the island so be prepared with appropriate gear and clothing, light hooded jacket, and umbrella. The sun is stronger in Kauai than on the mainland and non-tropical locations. Sunblock and sun-protective clothing are recommended.

Overall, Kauai weather is what is to be expected from a tropical island – with warm weather and refreshing rains in an island paradise.
We purposely did not plan a lot of activities to allow our guest the flexibility to explore the beautiful island of Kauai.
